U.S. And Iraq In Talks For Drawing Up Friendship Agreements
Baghdad, Mar 11–Iraqi-U.S. talks started on Tuesday in Baghdad to reach into an agreement and arrangements for a long-term friendship agreement between the two countries, including an agreement on the temporary presence of U.S forces in Iraq, the foreign ministry said.
“Iraq and United States started today at the Iraqi Ministry of foreign affairs in Baghdad the negotiations between the two delegations representing full sovereignty and independence of both countries for the purpose of reaching agreement and arrangements on long term of cooperation and friendship between the two countries. Including an agreement on the temporary presence of U.S forces, on the basis of mutual interests and respect for the sovereignty of both countries,” the ministry said in a statement received by Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI).
U.S. President Bush and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki signed a declaration of mutual cooperation and friendship, dated on 26 Nov.2007 and for the purpose of organizing the friendly relation between the two countries on sound ground after expiration of the term of application of the council resolution (No.1790,2007) at the end of the this year and relieving Iraq from chapter (7)of the United Nations charter.
They issued a joint letter a ” Declaration of Principles” appears as a mutual “expression of friendship.”
According to this declaration the United States will help get Iraq into the World Trade Organization. The two countries will engage in scientific and cultural exchanges.
It also includes a provision that promises to maintain security assurances and commitments to Iraq to deter foreign aggression against the country that violates its sovereignty and integrity of its territories, waters, or airspace.

Well this will piss off the liberals, after all the only diplomacy they like is sucking up to/taking it in the ass from our enemies (Pelosi and Assad for example). Treaties with our friends are frowned upon.

If a Republican wins and I think McCain will, this is a great idea. we need to pull our two countries as close together as we can.
