Would They Present Such A Cartoon With Muhammad? Would They Show Allah Having Sex?
The Catholic League, the world’s largest Catholic civil rights organization, has also written it’s disapproval of the cartoons. It says it’s used to this type of controversy the week before Easter.
Has the cavalier received any death threats?
March 18th, 2008 at 5:56 amMaybe they need to think about these things before they print them.
Yes, I am offended by the cartoons but that is not what I meant. If they would not print a cartoon about the muslim faith then they should not print one about any faith!!
Maybe Christians or Jews need to behead a few people to get our point across……oh wait we are not the religions of peace; damn it!!
March 18th, 2008 at 6:17 amYeah i have to admit, these cartoons do offend me. they piss me off quite a bit. but im far from rioting, because unlike an islamic whacko i realize that God is big enough to defend himself, i dont have to. I dont need to bring people to this side through intimidation or death, i only have myself to worry about.
March 18th, 2008 at 6:23 amWell said, Kurt. Not being a man of faith, I am also offended, no so much by the cartoons, but by the attitude of the editors, in light of the political climate today. Do these kids live in a bubble? Were they not aware of the feigned outrage over the Muhammed cartoons in Denmark? My guess is that they really didn’t give a rat’s a$$ if it offended anyone on campus. I’d bet everyone on the editorial board and the staff of the Cavalier (fitting name for a paper with that attitude) is a mush-for-brains liberal robot.
March 18th, 2008 at 6:33 amKurt & Jarhead68,
March 18th, 2008 at 6:41 amRight on. I agree 100%. This offended me, but what would offend me even more would be if Catholics started rioting and killing over this.
The only reason people mock Christianity with such disregard is because they know we’re not going to behead them and/or riot. Well, most Christians won’t anyway.
As a Christian, if the editors are not Christian, then they can say whatever they want about God and Jesus. It doesn’t bother me too much. You can’t expect Christian behavior/standards from non-Christians. I just hope they wise up before they meet God and Jesus, face to face, and have to explain themselves.
March 18th, 2008 at 6:55 amKurt I think that there are times that we need to defend God.
Take the incident that I recently read about from a university classroom.
March 18th, 2008 at 10:03 amIt was reported that a young Marine who had just recently returned from Iraq had walked into the first day of class and took his seat just before the profesor walked in and stepped up onto a step stool in the front of the class. The professor declared that he was going to prove that God did not exist by standing on the step stool for 15 minutes, giving God the oppurtunity to knock him off if He really existed.
The professor stood silently on the stool only calling out that God had only 10 minutes left; then 5 minutes left. Finally the professor mocked that God had only one minute left to prove that He existed and the professor closed his eyes to wait.
The Marine stood up walked to the front of the room and punched the professor square in the face knocking him off of the stool and out cold.
A few minutes later when the professor came to he angrily questioned the Marine as to why he assaulted him.
The Marine responded, “God is busy protecting Marines and Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, so he sent me!”
“if we offended anybody” … “might have offeded somebody” …???
There really does appear to be a massive void between the ears of this girl.
Perhaps it comes from having such an “open mind” … or telling herself that the only way to have an open mind is to [safely] insult a religion that turns the other cheek … instead of hacking off your head.
March 18th, 2008 at 12:49 pmUVa used to be a pretty high class place. To think they have this ditz as editor of the paper, thinking its OK to bait Christians right before Easter–it’s going out of your way to be tasteless, whether you are a believer or not. And yes, would they DARE to print a cartoon of Mohammed smoking in bed after a sexual encounter? I think not. They would be afraid of violence. Yet, they know the civilized religion of Christianity won’t use violence to make their point.
March 18th, 2008 at 1:55 pmWell, she was HOPING to offend somebody! That was the point of the whole thing, no? She wanted a Christian riot, but nobody came.
