44 Terrorists Arrested In Ninewa
Ninewa, Apr 19, (VOI) – Police forces arrested 44 terrorists, suspected of affiliation with the so-called Islamic State of Iraq in Mosul, the official spokesperson of Ninewa operations command said on Saturday.
“On Saturday dawn, police forces arrested 44 terrorists in different places of Mosul city,” Brigadier Khalid Abdul-Sattar told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI).
“Based on information tips, the forces raided terrorists locations in the neighborhoods of Sommer, al-Salam, Palestine, and Yamarja (southeastern Mosul), arresting them, and confiscating one BKC machine-gun, 40 mm shell, five AK-47s, one pistol, and face masks.”
“During the preliminary interrogations, the force was able to find a hide-out that consists of big water tanks, with square cross-sections, embedded underground,” he said.
“Terrorists use those tanks to hide people kidnapped from the city,” Abdul-Sattar explained
“There were signs of blood, and ropes used by the gunmen to conduct executions found inside the tanks,” he proceeded.
He said “It is believed that the arrested armed men are members of the so-called Islamic State of Iraq in Mosul, and involved in a number of armed operations.”
“Interrogations are currently underway,” Abdul-Sattar added.
Earlier on Saturday, Abdul-Sattar said that on Friday evening, Iraqi forces arrested two terrorists suspected of affiliation with the so-called Islamic State of Iraq, during a raid operation, northwest of Mosul city.
“A force from the Iraqi army 3rd division arrested, on Friday evening, two terrorists affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq, in Owainat village of Rabea’a suburb (northwest of Mosul), in addition to seizing their vehicle,” Brigadier Khalid Abdul-Sattar told VOI.
He referred that the two armed men were arrested during a raid operation in the area.
“One of the two terrorists, is the Ameer (prince – leader) of the organization in Rabea’a suburb,” Abdul-Sattar explained, but did not reveal the terrorists name.
“Interrogations are underway with both of them, to learn the rest of the organization’s members,” he added.
Mosul, capital city of Ninewa province, is 405 km north of Baghdad.

April 19th, 2008 at 9:53 pm11pm PDT: WOW!, it took me a few moments to figure out what to say in this post.
The pic, I want to believe they’re Iraqi army, never the less, if not, doesn’t matter, that pic sent a chill up my spine. (I’m left-handed, chills go up, not down my spine…yes, I’m serious)
Regarding the article, Pat’s hammered the VOI’s editorial comments in past news stories, and rightly so, it has no place in a news report. (check section “A” of your local paper )
However, this article is publishing direct quotes from Iraqi Brigadier Khalid Abdul-Sattar, so on the face of it, it’s very good news, with positive details. Though I’m fairly certain they will never make into the U.S. media, sans FOX News and the Conservative Blogosphere.
(kudos to Larry…PS - Larry, where ya been?)
