April 16th, 2008 at 9:55 amI’ve had the pleasure of being in a long line of choppers a number of times in my career. It used to take a whole lot of UH-1’s to land an entire BN of grunts. We came in several chaulks and all you saw was a long line of choppers, landing 4 at a time, one behind the other in a remote LZ. It was an awesome sight.
That’s what air superiority looks like. And this is what badass troops do. Shoot, move and communicate; anywhere, anytime.
April 16th, 2008 at 10:05 amCan you just imagine what the terrorist who saw that formation coming in were thinking?
I feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
April 16th, 2008 at 10:20 amOne other observation: I didn’t see any rotary wing attack assets. You would think with that many troops in the air, you’d have some rotary wing attack assets. My guess is the AF or Navy was flying high cover.
I also counted 30. At least half were CH-47’s. That’s more than a reinforced rifle BN worth of troops.
Had to see the vid again. Wish they’d have shown a little more vid and let the song play out with it.
I give it two thumbs up anyways.
April 16th, 2008 at 10:23 amYeah very cool. the enemy must have pissed their pants seeing that long line of birds coming towards and not to mention the deadly payload they were bringing to the fight!
