April 19, 1984 RIP Butch
Buddy of mine called me today to remind me what day it was…
Butch was a good buddy of mine. On 4/19/84 he was a passenger on a bike like the one pictured. Our buddy Rick Green was driving, he had just bought the bike, too. Butch didn’t have a helmet. They were behind us, and we were between night clubs. I can’t remember the name of the place, but we had just left a strip joint out near Sand Island, Oahu and were headed into Waikiki. They wrecked. Rick broke his leg in a few places, they never charged him, he was lucky because from what we had heard it was Rick’s fault. Butch was thrown and hit his head on the curb. I’ll never forget it as long as I live. He was lying there with a red line beneath the skin on his forehead.
This was Butch’s favorite song. MTV was new and whenever this vid came on he’d be like “Turn that shit up!”
RIP Butch…
To friends no longer with us.
April 19th, 2008 at 7:27 pmFor Butch
Been near 80 the last two days here in NEOhio …
Have seen LOADS of motorcycles and several spandex-serious bicycle riders for the last couple days …
I believe there is still no helmet law in Ohio … However, anyone that does ride in areas that throw down slag over the winter on the roads, PLEASE wear helmets and leather until it’s been swept up by the highway depts.
That shit’s like ice. Hear close to atleast one a week in my area killed from a nasty slide in the gravel/slag still on the road.
To Butch
and to everyone taken too damn soon
