Alright, this is how screwed-up in the head I am. I’m feeling entirely guilty for actually having slept since about midnight last night instead of having stayed up working on the site, the Fox script ( due in a few weeks ), the doc, etc. But gotta sleep sometimes. Getting by on 3 hour naps can’t last forever.

And a weird thing has happened, two Marines, seperate and apart from each other and without knowledge of each other’s actions, both of whom were on the helo that went down and took the lives of so many young men of 1/3 Charlie Company, that all three of us were supposed to be on ( I believe that they were not only pulled off at the last minute, but their packs remained on the bird ) each contacted me by email, and we are finally likely to speak of many things this weekend. One of which is the feature film that should be made about 1/3 Charlie’s journey from Hawaii to Fallujah, and beyond….I’ll let you know how that goes.

Got into a fender-bender last night. Poor little rich girl. No one even close to hurt, but her car was a week old and ( new silver super-expensive convertible Lexus ) which now had to bear a small scar FOR A WHOLE WEEK or so. You’d a thought she’s just lived through some genuine sacrifice, loss and pain in the world. I guess she had, in the world of Rich American Blonde Suburbia, but it was ridiculous. And I think she was quite displeased when the cops arrived and we all bonded over mutual friends and experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan, the psychology of police and military work, etc. I think she just wanted them to adjudicate and assassinate me on the spot for upsetting the Perfect Blonde Rich Life….fucking civilians….

The new PTR 91-K came in last night, been invited coyote hunting tomorrow…

Sons of Iraq Foil Kidnapping Attempt
Wednesday, 02 April 2008

TIKRIT — The Abna al-Iraq, or Sons of Iraq, prevented the kidnapping of two women and four children in Diyala, March 30.
The SOI in the village of Abu Harab fought off four vehicles full of al Qaeda in Iraq members after the victims had been apprehended. They recovered all the kidnapped victims.

“The quick reaction of these local heroes, the village’s Sons of Iraq, is yet another example of the strength and determination of Iraqis to fight for the peace they deserve,” said Maj. Dan Meyers Multi-National Division North’s spokesman.

No one was killed or injured in the incident.

Why people like me aren’t “Gun Nuts”:

From an email I recently received.

Pat,

My best friend had someone break into her house a few months back.
It got me worried that my family could be at risk as well. So I did some research on crime and home invasion and here’s what I found:

1. 1 out of every 5 homes will have a burglary, fire or carbon monoxide poisoning over the next 6 years.*
2. 9 out of 10 convicted burglars agreed that they would avoid a house protected by an alarm system.**
3. Every two minutes, somewhere in America, someone is sexually assaulted.
4. Violent crime rose by double-digit percentages in cities across the country over the last two years
5. A Home Security System makes your home 3 times less likely to be burglarized.

How long until your family or mine falls into one of these statistics?

I was so worried I went online and found a place that gives out $850 ADT alarm systems for Free.

However, it’s not available in every area. To check if its available in yours click here: http://zjd.superblueshield.com/nebnrvzbqe/bnr/

Be Safe,

Little miss Paris Hilton wannabe should not even be bitching about a little scratch on her car. I came out of my job once and a school bus had clipped my car in the parking lot. Did $2500 dollars worth of damage to the front end on the driver’s side.

Coyote hunting is excellent. we do it around here. last time i went i took my 10 gauge with a bunch of slugs, make sure you pick up at least a 500,000 candlepower spotlight with a red lens. and a rabbit in distress call works wonders too.

TURNER: We’re too many people. That’s why we have global warming. We have global warming because too many people are using too much stuff. If there were less people, they’d be using less stuff

He’s a cunt hair away from mandatory ‘population reductions’. People like him hate the human race. If they’re so eager to have us commit suicide, all I have to say is, “You first.”

    Good morning, Dollardheads!

    I sure did miss yunz!

The trip was great, and my concept of the layout of D.C. proper (the whole visual on memorials/monuments) was radically altered. The Arlington funeral I had gone down for lived up to magnificent expectations. Besides that event, witnessing the Changing of The Guard at the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier was the best thing I saw/experienced.

I’m in a bit of a pinch right now to get myself organized after my late arrival home last night, so I toss up thoughts on what I saw later today here.

The flight, which many of you knew I dreaded, down was great. Very small express jet, but we were Cleveland to D.C. in under an hour before the sun was up and that wasn’t bad at all … And de-planing down the steps onto the tarmac is pretty cool, as opposed to accordian tunnel that attaches to the building.

However, the flight home was not as easy.

I’d arrived early at Dulles via a friend I’d hooked up with while down there after buying him a nice lunch. While I sat with a Vince Flynn book to pass the time, and a young French mommy and her overactive little girl sitting next to me (Jacqueline! Jacqueline!) and mommy pulling out all the wad of cash in her purse to teach little Jackie how to count American currency … over and over again … and then leaving her bags unattended, not once but several times (YAWN) … Anyhow the three airline flights ahead of mine began bumping folks from those flights, asking for volunteers with the enticement of free roundtrip tickets to anywhere in the continental US and hotel room over night in DC if the next flight wasn’t until the following day … but when no one approached the offer they began naming people they were pulling off. I shook my head, hoping my flight wasn’t going to have to do the same. But we began boarding … and outside up the steps again … very cool (hey, give me the small wonders, eh?).

So the pilot warned the cold front was moving in from the west, and there’d be some chop in flight that he’d try his damnedest to avoid, but warned the Cleveland landing (winds 35mph, with 50mph gusts) was unavoidable. We then commenced sitting over an hour on the runway and being delayed by that hour. As we descended for approach to Cleveland I could feel we were in for it. Rock and roll roller coaster time. The plane was so small and I was in the 2nd row aisle seat I could look into the face of the flight attendant glaring back at us from where she was sitting. Seasoned frequent fliers aboard were mumbling “Oh, G-d!” under their breath while I just tapped G-d on the shoulder and reminded Him I really DID NEED to get back home, you know? … So after He juggled the plane up and down, sided to side and pretended to drop us, we finally hit the runway … HARD … and we did the wing wobble the rest of the way down the runway until we came to a complete stop. No steps off the plane to the tarmac … a tunnel, which was better because everyone, including the flight attendant, was staggering after that one.

But I’m back in my digs in one piece and catching up.

Someone throw me the biggie highlights I’ve missed here since last Friday?

    Thanks.

    Maggie

DC is a fascinating place to visit, but the traffic is a B! That and the local polichickens there are among the worst in the nation. But the changing of the guard is a sight to behold, indeed; those drill units are extremely precise, to say the least! I have many friends that live in the metro area (most NoVa, but some in MD as well), and the whole area is booming. Hopefully later on this spring, I’ll be taking a trip with some buddies to see a Nats game at their new stadium.

Well as for big news, there seems to be a growing trend of the Dems stepping in it, and McCain flying high above all of it. He just might turn out to be the right man, at the right time for the Oval Office, if things continue the way they are. That along with the latest Shiite uprising ending.

  10. BradW (the Infidel)

    Maggie,

Typical dollard stuff while you were out. Typical cleveland stuff as well, why does the PD seem so bent on trashing any business that has more than 3 employees, and when that business then closes, they raise hell for lost jobs? Self fulfilling prophecy. I love the line on WTAM 1100 when they keep playing the audi clip of Jacklson saying “The porblem isn’t that we don’t know we have a proble. We know we have a problem, the problem is we haven’t done anything about it”

well for NE Ohio, the problem, like in so much of the US is democrats in charge, or at least holding down offices, and screwing the common man and woman. If we could ship out 50% of the demcrats, I’d gladly let all the non-criminal illegal aliens stay in the USofA…

  11. Dan (The Infidel)

No…Sharia won’t work in Miss. Miss. has two things in abundance. Fire Ants, and a whole lot of pissed off people looking for something to shoot at. A 7th Century Mullah would do nicely.

One other little item, Pat I commiserate with you regarding the fender bender. One time home on leave I was driving my kid brother to school, stop in traffic, rear ended by one of the local prisses. Her statement to the cop that arrived to take the statement ( he was stopped in traffic headed the other way, and saw the whole thing…bad for her) when he asked her when had she noticed the car in front of her (me) she stated, “when I hit him” Since her daddy was a local business big wig, they and their insurance comp tried to blame me, needless to say, it went to trial, and when they found out I was in the service, they tried to postpone in court, so my leave would get screwed up. Of course they wanted to reschedule for when I likely would not be able to testify..

anyway, I ended up getting enough to repair my car, and that was about it, thanks to being in an extremely liberal small town at the time.

    A. S. Wise- VA

Saturday was nuts there. The Nats were having an exhibition game to open the new ball park, (and Sunday was the opening season game in the new park). It’s Cherry Blossom Festival time there too, so loads of things going on. Metro was jammed, and it was bumper to bumper with people on foot too.

My friend and I had bought tickets on the Tourmobile bus for Saturday (which I recommend … $25/person/day or $35/person/2days … takes you all over DC and points out everything, and then turns you over to their other bus in Arlington for that tour. You can get out and look about on foot and catch the next bus on the line that comes back around … http://www.tourmobile.com/tours_cemetery.php ). I highly recommend it near the start of your visit because it gives you an idea where everything is and what you might want to take more time with for a closer look. Check the site for where you get the tickets in town (we got ours at the White House visitors location) … DO NOT PRE-ORDER them, just get there early in the a.m. The whole walking about thing is great, but you sure appreciate the bus, especially at the end of the day. Car traffic was bumper to bumper and slow going. Our bus actually got run into by a car …

The Vietnam Wall was striking as I had imagined, but seemed smaller than I expected. It is not a reflection of any sort on my concept of the brave men (and women, there is also a striking memorial to the women who served in VN) as those folks are and always will be bigger than life on a very real scale to me not only for their mission in Nam, but for what they had to go through back home.

The Korean War Memorial is outstanding … The statues of soldiers on patrol is an artistic marvel. The detail is perfection.

The WWII Memorial is beautifully designed and you must spend time taking it all in.

Just about everywhere you find yourself you can look out and see the Washington Monument somewhere in the “picture”. Saturday there was a kite-flying competition at the Monument. Was really cool to see all those exotic kites flying around the Monument.

I’m not certain how many, if any, “protester-types” took advantage of Saturday’s increased pedestrian traffic through the area. By evening, my friend and I were making our way on foot to the Capitol building from behind it. On the rear lawn of the Capitol were a handful of protesters who were concerned with “Penis Rights” … They were against circumcision … Well, while I really don’t have the [experience] to compare this subject, I do know I would never send a soldier into battle without a helmet …

Also, take the time at the war memorials to stop and talk with the fellas running the military souvenir (patches and pins and the like) and information booths. They are usually veterans and greatly appreciate your “thanks” and a strong handshake for their service, and exchanges and questions about their experiences (the Korean War vet nearly had a tear in his eye when I shook his hand and remarked how they often wrongly get lost in the shuffle of war history in our country … and he being “black” I also made mention of it being the first war/conflict where our troops served integrated, to which he perked up and really got excited).

I also found the tour guides on the (Tourmobile) bus(es) inside Arlington very thoughtful and filled with firsthand experiences in the names of folks buried inside the cemetary. I was surprised at some.

The cherry blossoms, the Magnolias and Dogwoods … tulips, dafs, hyacinths, and the like also poking up from underground and in full bloom … and they had landscaped with pansies and such. Was really uplifting site after such a long dead lingering Ohio winter. And the weather held up nicely for us too.

The Arlington funeral I attended was for a friend’s father who had landed on Normandy on D-Day. He had died before the Christmas holidays and was cremated, and the family requested full burial at Arlington for him and Monday was when it was scheduled. The Belgium consulate had sent along a (female) Colonel (paratrooper!) to represent Belgium in honor and appreciation of the man. She was very tall and stoic. A lovely woman. It rained lightly Monday, the day of the funeral, but seemed to be fitting for the occasion.

drill - Sounds like a wonderful trip! We are thinking about maybe trekking on over to D.C. before or after our transport to Ohio music camp this summer . . . that is, if funding permits, but not looking too keen at this point with gas prices and all - but if we do, I will want to “drill” you for more recommendations!

Thank you for the wonderful descriptions! You always describe things so brilliantly — feel like I was there!

Pat I read an article where Army Special Forces Docs did a study on sleep requirements. They found that less than 6.5 hrs. per 24 hour period and your cognitive reasoning would diminish by a few percent AND each additional 24 hrs. w/o the 6.5 would diminish reasoning skills expotentionally, until in less than a week you’d lose virtually all reasoning skills and not know it

They also found that even at the most diminished
level, that 6.5 hrs of continuous sleep would reset the brain and your good to go.

Life’s kind of funny sometimes. I met a fellow traveller in a fairly unlikey spot. I was drinking at a union bar, mainly construction trades (ironworkers, carpenters, plumbers, etc.) talking with a friend of a friend, feeling kind of at home because they have Wounded Warrior Project stuff. Selling t-shirts, donation bar, stickers, what have you.

He turned out to be a big part of that. I’m used to feeling out of place in the city. I was one of the Three Wise Men in one shop. Three conservatives out of at least thirty guys. That gives you an idea of what I deal with, although I’m sure there’s more ‘in the closet’.

I doubt he’s what most here would call ‘conservative’, but he is not willing to let people fuck with the troops. Politics be damned. He had never heard of Gathering of Eagles, or any of the other Pro-Troop groups. I was more than happy to let him know he’s not the only one. Fucking MSM tries to keep us a secret. I’m sure there’s millions of proud Americans like us who think they’re alone.

He had no idea that we held a rally right after that cocksucker bombed the recruiting station at Times Square. He was actually having a Wounded Warrior Project BBQ the same day. He said he and his guys would’ve loved to have come down and support the troops.

He told me he’d spread the word that there’s other guys out there who will not let what happened to the Vietnam guys happen again (I gave him some web site, including this one), and I told him I’d spread the word about the Wounded Warrior Project.
