BAGHDAD (AP) - An airstrike destroyed a house in the southern city of Basra, killing a senior Iranian-linked Special Groups militant, the U.S. military said Thursday.
The attack comes as the Iraqi government apparently shifts gears in its offensive against Shiite militias, staging more targeted raids instead of attacking the gunmen head-on after Al Sadr told his forces to stop fighting.
The district where the senior terrorist was killed has seen some of the fiercest fighting in the offensive that began March 25.
Russell said one militant was killed and a house was destroyed but provided no further details about whether U.S. or British aircraft were used in the attack.

When I was in, I could only think about my 20 and getting out, now I have been out for 11 years, and wish I was back in. It is great to hear from a fellow Coastie. this is the best blog I have seen. I really don’t understand the self-hatred of Lefties. I mean, there are times I hate myself, but that’s because of my own personal fuck ups. I don’t blame anyone else for them, either.

I don’t start a hysterical rant about Andersonville when I meet a southerner, and they don’t go off about Sherman’s march to the sea. Sometimes we’ll discuss it, but as history, not some grudge that must be repaid in blood.
A liberal is someone who can stand over a dead body, blood on their hands, and insist it was all the corpse’s fault. The idea of one of them becoming president would be unimaginable, but it’s already happened. We’re still cleaning up the mess left by Jimmah, and I’m sure we’ll be trying to undo the damage Bubba did for another twenty years.
I’m not sure how much more the nation, as a whole, can take, before things get messy, and I’m talking blood in the streets messy.

Last night a woman a few stops away at 7.30pm got the crap beaten out of her. She survived with just loosing a tooth. They’ve been doing this since the 70s and it seems to go in cycles, the cycle is returning. Wonder where they learn this? I mean, we’re in Philadelphia, wright is in Chicago.

All the oil I put in that single car made Saudi Arabia what it is today. Never did fix all the electrical problems. Couldn’t figure them out and something would always short out. Take heart as there are independent consrevatives alive and well in the stix. I live by a bar called The Silos, largest nuke missle area in the US. When liberals from a city came to drop of literature there, the manager tells them to just set them in the fire place and he’ll burn it later. I’m about 6 miles from an Army mountain training area that’s become pretty busy lately: sweet sound of Mortar training, heavy MG’s etc., and now not just on weekends but Blackhawk and Chinook training 24/7. Got a wonderful pic last month of 26 new Abrams Tanks on a train that passed by to replace the ones our reserve units left in Iraq last tour. All the locals here back the troops and training 110% as most have relations or friends in the service.
Now in the few larger cities here it’s different. Got liberals imported and home grown too. Campus influence by the Profs is a curse left over from the ’60’s bunch but hopefully they’ll die off with the rest of us of that time. At the VA last week, my nurse, originally from Boston, got a phone call and after she hung up said, “Obama’s coming to town”. I replied “so what!” and that was the end of that subject. Bet she’ll be careful with the other local Vets. Anyhow, it’s the opposite around here, in small towns under 30,000, which there are a shit pot in the northwest, it’s hard to find a liberal…or one that would spew their crap at great risk.
When the movie stars set up a movie here, they’re pretty quiet so as not to piss off the locals with their Champagne Socialism.

If you’re doing proper northern English one would write, “you better get while the getting’s good”. So, gitt on over here. You’re blonde, with your attitude they would probably hire you right off the boat at the Fox News Channel. The President has given the order to disregard all local court concerns on getting the border wall built so it’s completed by the end of the year. It will slow things down with the swarming from the south. We’re being given a chance to catch our breath and sort things out in a more orderly pace.

My stepfather, who counted many well known Marines, former POW’s, and MOH awardees as his friends, (thrown in for context) always believed that libs could not really believe what they (conservatives) believe.

I think you may not be familiar with it. They advertise themselves as fair and balanced, a bit to ad nauseum, in my estimation with the extreme liberals they bring on to keep it balanced. Now, the blonde remark was like a joke, there’s no doubt they have a lot of blondes, and some of them with irritating voices, but, I have a lot of time to spend in front of or at least have it on while I’m doing something else. And with anything you spend a lot of time with you start to pick at after a while. I’m out of the work force. Fox News got a real compliment from a democrat. Happens to be the Governor of the State I live in, Pennsylvania. Ed Rendell said he appreciated that Fox was definitely the most fair and balanced of the three cable news services. FNC does lean a bit toward the right just as CNN leans to the left and MSNBC leans toward the loon. To land a job with FNC would be right down your alley. Unless you’re independently wealthy you’re going to have to work for someone to get a start. Start off as an intern and then maybe be in time be assigned field reporting, be just your luck they’d send you over to Europe, or maybe not. Maybe you could convince them to have you start a southern border bureau. It’s hot down there, but it would keep you in the country. Maybe do that for a couple of years and they’d move you back to New York to do Fox and Friends, it’s their three hour morning show. It’s a thought.
