Sandstorm In Kuwait Closes Ports, Diverts Incoming Flights
KUWAIT CITY –A sandstorm in Kuwait Wednesday closed ports, diverted incoming flights to neighboring countries and led to university classes being canceled.
The Kuwait News Agency said the Shuwaik and Shuaiba ports were temporarily paralyzed by Wednesday’s southwesterly gusts.
Issam al-Zamel, operations manager of the Kuwait International Airport, said four incoming flights had to be diverted to Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, as visibility was reduced to some 150 meters. He said traffic was back to normal after the storm abated.
There were no reports on whether oil exports were affected.
Jordan’s carrier Royal Jordanian canceled three Baghdad flights Wednesday, citing low visibility due to a dust storm in Iraq and leaving many Iraqi travelers stranded.

April 30th, 2008 at 8:11 pmI’m having an e-mail exchange with a U.S. Marine currently.
He was rather “cool” about the second sand-storm that hit them in 3 weeks.
Stated, they just had to clean everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) again.

I back you up all the way on this.
Everytime the gas-prices go up I think:”Oh, somewhere in the Middle East some one farted”.
