My son-in-law and his Marine Sgt. brother have pit bulls … They are THE biggest pussies I have ever seen pretending to be dogs. One is even sexually confused, we surmise …
It’s pretty much all in the way they are bred, and how they are raised/treated.
My uncle in NC raises and rides horses and NEVER rides without carrying a side arm (retired Marine Lt. Col.) … I see why.

April 8th, 2008 at 7:12 pmI have a pitbull too. and he is the biggest wimp ever. he sleeps in my bed every night down by my feet. he loves my neice and nephew and people in general.
for example, my nephew who is 6 years old jumped off the chair the other weekend and landed on him, the dog didnt do anything.
the dumbasses in this country have for whatever reason chosen the American pitbull as their dog fighting choice. nothing but a bad reputation.
April 8th, 2008 at 7:17 pmbut in reality they are the most loyal, easiest to train, most loving dogs there are. if you give them a task, human rescue for example those dogs will actually run themselves to death if you dont stop them first.
As previously stated, it’s bad owners, not bad dogs. A lot like bad parents, not bad kids.
I rescued an APBT that turned out to be a great dog. He was loyal, intelligent, and easy going. Basically the antithesis of what you see in these kind of horror stories of APBT’s run amok. They do have a natural aggression though that has to be watched…not towards people but other dogs / animals.
But my Alaskan Malamutes / Siberian Huskies have super high prey drives too, so it’s not specific just to APBT’s. You just have to be a good / responsible dog owner, and everything else takes care of itself.

Yeah, the family kids play around my s-i-l’s and his brother’s dogs with not even the slightest notice of being in the same universe.
However, my daughter and s-i-l have a 9 month old Italian Grey Hound pup at their house (the pit bulls are out at his Mom’s country house) and won’t take her out to the farm because they fear the dogs will tear her apart. The s-i-l’s Mom brought home a stray dog one day and one of the pits “took exception” … she immediately found new digs for the stray.
