He served in fire control on a light guided missile crusier back in the mid 70's. He said that they really loved target practice and always got chewed out, but blamed it on the electronics, for hitting the drone (boat) at the end of the practice. I remember that he said that these drones were about 16' or so long with four largest Mercs at the time outboard motors on them and full of electronics for jamming, controls, etc... He allowed that accuracy was so great they could have picked of one of the motors with their guns if they had chosen to.
