Disgusting Evil - Yale Senior Induced Abortions For “Art”
Art, my ass, I have an art project for ya, honey…why don’t I get the entire Grambling football team to gang rape you repeatedly for 9 months, filming it all, and call it art?
No, no no, wait…how about we send you and your “art” project over Northwestern Pakistan and invite all the tribal leaders to come see your wonderful work?
This is disgusting.
Beginning next Tuesday, Shvarts will be displaying her senior art project, a documentation of a nine-month process during which she artificially inseminated herself “as often as possible” while periodically taking abortifacient drugs to induce miscarriages. Her exhibition will feature video recordings of these forced miscarriages as well as preserved collections of the blood from the process.
The goal in creating the art exhibition, Shvarts said, was to spark conversation and debate on the relationship between art and the human body. But her project has already provoked more than just debate, inciting, for instance, outcry at a forum for fellow senior art majors held last week. And when told about Shvarts’ project, students on both ends of the abortion debate have expressed shock . saying the project does everything from violate moral code to trivialize abortion.
But Shvarts insists her concept was not designed for “shock value.”
“I hope it inspires some sort of discourse,” Shvarts said. “Sure, some people will be upset with the message and will not agree with it, but it’s not the intention of the piece to scandalize anyone.”
The “fabricators,” or donors, of the sperm were not paid for their services, but Shvarts required them to periodically take tests for sexually transmitted diseases. She said she was not concerned about any medical effects the forced miscarriages may have had on her body. The abortifacient drugs she took were legal and herbal, she said, and she did not feel the need to consult a doctor about her repeated miscarriages.
Shvarts declined to specify the number of sperm donors she used, as well as the number of times she inseminated herself.
Art major Juan Castillo ‘08 said that although he was intrigued by the creativity and beauty of her senior project, not everyone was as thrilled as he was by the concept and the means by which she attained the result.
“I really loved the idea of this project, but a lot other people didn’t,” Castillo said. “I think that most people were very resistant to thinking about what the project was really about. [The senior-art-project forum] stopped being a conversation on the work itself.”
Although Shvarts said she does not remember the class being quite as hostile as Castillo described, she said she believes it is the nature of her piece to “provoke inquiry.”
“I believe strongly that art should be a medium for politics and ideologies, not just a commodity,” Shvarts said. “I think that I’m creating a project that lives up to the standard of what art is supposed to be.”
The display of Schvarts’ project will feature a large cube suspended from the ceiling of a room in the gallery of Green Hall. Schvarts will wrap hundreds of feet of plastic sheeting around this cube; lined between layers of the sheeting will be the blood from Schvarts’ self-induced miscarriages mixed with Vaseline in order to prevent the blood from drying and to extend the blood throughout the plastic sheeting.
Schvarts will then project recorded videos onto the four sides of the cube. These videos, captured on a VHS camcorder, will show her experiencing miscarriages in her bathrooom tub, she said. Similar videos will be projected onto the walls of the room.
School of Art lecturer Pia Lindman, Schvarts’ senior-project advisor, could not be reached for comment Wednesday night.
Few people outside of Yale’s undergraduate art department have heard about Shvarts’ exhibition. Members of two campus abortion-activist groups . Choose Life at Yale, a pro-life group, and the Reproductive Rights Action League of Yale, a pro-choice group . said they were not previously aware of Schvarts’ project.
Alice Buttrick ‘10, an officer of RALY, said the group was in no way involved with the art exhibition and had no official opinion on the matter.
Sara Rahman ‘09 said, in her opinion, Shvarts is abusing her constitutional right to do what she chooses with her body.
“[Shvarts’ exhibit] turns what is a serious decision for women into an absurdism,” Rahman said. “It discounts the gravity of the situation that is abortion.”
CLAY member Jonathan Serrato ‘09 said he does not think CLAY has an official response to Schvarts’ exhibition. But personally, Serrato said he found the concept of the senior art project “surprising” and unethical.
“I feel that she’s manipulating life for the benefit of her art, and I definitely don’t support it,” Serrato said. “I think it’s morally wrong.”
Shvarts emphasized that she is not ashamed of her exhibition, and she has become increasingly comfortable discussing her miscarriage experiences with her peers.
“It was a private and personal endeavor, but also a transparent one for the most part,” Shvarts said. “This isn’t something I’ve been hiding.”
The official reception for the Undergraduate Senior Art Show will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on April 25. The exhibition will be on public display from April 22 to May 1. The art exhibition is set to premiere alongside the projects of other art seniors this Tuesday, April 22 at the gallery of Holcombe T. Green Jr. Hall on Chapel Street.
(Yale)
She’s mentally ill, and her “art advisor” Pia Lindman should be fired immediately. Yale Alum, where are you?
April 17th, 2008 at 8:46 amSo the Ivy League is where the best and brightest go. Give me someone who went to State U, and has common sense.
April 17th, 2008 at 8:50 amI’ve seen all kinds of art, and this is not art. It’s nothing more than a twisted science experiment.

How non-judgmental (read spineless), pussy.

This woman needs SERIOUS psychological help.
What the fuck?
They lock people up in mental wards or put them on heavy anti psychotic drugs for saying they hear God calling to them, but this woman is normal?
April 17th, 2008 at 8:56 amOnly possible positive outcome of this would be if she took so many drugs she messed her system up and can never reproduce, so she would at least never have the opportunity to indoctrinate a child with her at best amoral lunacy. I’ve got a better idea for her for an art project on the relationship between art and the body - she should go have her uterus removed and keep it pickled by her bedside to remind her for the rest of her life of how she has abused that most beautiful and miraculous of things - procreation - for the most inane and selfish of reasons.
April 17th, 2008 at 8:56 amMolly - Easy on the “science experiment” bit. This has nothing to do with either art or science - it’s just plain twisted. The fact that this gal didn’t think it would inspire controversy just adds to the proof that she’s devoid of morality entirely. She apparently doesn’t see her actions as any sort of problem at all. I’m officially appalled.
April 17th, 2008 at 9:00 amSimply put, she is guilty of crimes against humanity. Does that carry a death sentence? If not, it should.
April 17th, 2008 at 9:05 amI have an idea for her next art exhibit. this bitch can build a stand, put a shotgun in it, put a string on the trigger, stand in front of it and pull the string.
Since human life obviously means nothing to her.
basically all she made was a perverted snuff film. Art my ass!
April 17th, 2008 at 9:06 amInteresting, I heard the Pope and President Bush discussing moral relevance yesterday.

LBA … I agree … “Prognosis”: mentally ILL, insane … sociopathic
The goal in creating the art exhibition, Shvarts said, was to spark conversation and debate on the relationship between art and the human body.
Yeah, and I am sure Jeffrey Dahmer thought what he, and others like him, did/do is art too …

April 17th, 2008 at 9:14 amArt and it’s real definition is truly dead.
Does she think she is the next Michaelangelo? Truth is she is more like the next Mengele.
Moral idiocy/relativism is alive and well and getting worst on our college campuses these days my friends.
Personally, I think criminal charges and a psych. eval. are in order in this case in order to prevent anything like this from happening again. Or god forbid, the next time it being worse.
April 17th, 2008 at 9:23 amWHAT THE FUCK?!
She is either insane or evil, maybe both.
She should, at the very least, be commited and sterilized. The thought of her reproducing is intolerable.
To all the Leftists out there:
Look at what you have wrought. Proud of yourselves? Actually, the sick fucks probably are.
I need a drink almost as much as I need to strangle the life out of this vicious cunt. There’s a special place in Hell reserved for her.
April 17th, 2008 at 9:41 amActually, even the libs cannot stomach this:

No, I don’t read that blog. I searched on this creature’s name.
April 17th, 2008 at 9:48 amHell waits for such perverts
April 17th, 2008 at 10:06 amfucking psycho
April 17th, 2008 at 10:24 amWow, this is evil. Sick and evil. This freak should be arrested and beat down over and over. Unfortunately she will probably be employed in the news media, or on the staff of a democrat in office.
April 17th, 2008 at 10:29 amShe hopes that her “art” “inspires some sort of discourse.” Of course, she’s too fucking stupid to actually add to any discourse. Typical liberal idiocy. The bitch will be working at Hardee’s within two years, guaranteed, and she will be hated by the honest, hard-working people there who didn’t have the intelligence or money to seek higher education. What a cupid stunt.
April 17th, 2008 at 10:43 amHOLY MOSES!!! THIS IS THE MOST DISGUSTING THING I HAVE EVER READ!!
I’M CHEWING BACK VOMIT!!
THIS BITCH IS COMMITTING MASS GENOCIDE AND CALLING IT ART.
April 17th, 2008 at 10:48 amThis can’t be true, can it?

Not to worry too much …
She MAY have done enough damage (scarring), given what she did to her self … “[[[She said she was not concerned about any medical effects the forced miscarriages may have had on her body. The abortifacient drugs she took were legal and herbal, she said, and she did not feel the need to consult a doctor about her repeated miscarriages.]]]”
As to the “donors” …
While there is some controversy to the source/meaning/wording of the verse, it still comes to my mind … for some reason:
“Better to spill your seed in the belly of a whore than throw it on the ground …”
However, I think what we have here in Mzzzz. Shvarts is a blurring of the distinction between the “whore” and the “ground” …
April 17th, 2008 at 11:00 amPut her down!
April 17th, 2008 at 12:28 pmNow the inevitable “HOAX” roach crawls out …

April 17th, 2008 at 1:10 pmI bet she qualifies for a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts…
April 17th, 2008 at 1:35 pmI was an art major. lot of mentally insane people there.
April 17th, 2008 at 7:06 pmToo bad she wasn’t on the receiving end of that flechette round from the Israeli tank - it would have been a fitting end for someone not worthy of breathing our air
April 17th, 2008 at 7:43 pmI don’t care if it was a hoax or not. I stand by my earlier comment either way.
April 17th, 2008 at 8:06 pmThis is the natural end of natural man, i.e. humankind that is no longer bound by a God given conscience, sometimes called Common Grace. She truly is no different than sociopathic serial killers and abortion doctors such as Tiller. Abortion is one of the sacraments of the liberal left in America. It is used and celebrated like some of celebrate the Lord’s Supper.
The devil wants to destroy creation, especially the crown jewel of God’s creation, man. That’s why when you look deeper into liberalism’s black heart so much the desires focus on death. Euthanasia, abortion, assisted suicide, voluntary sterilization to save the planet, encouragement of all manner of self destructive behavior and the insane liberal love of the islamofascists. Liberalism is every bit the death cult that islam is.
God has a special love for children and this woman made a conscious concerted effort to destroy as many of them as she could. She will have much to answer for and an eternity to pay the price.
April 17th, 2008 at 8:25 pmWell, thisgirl is obviously tryingto get famous with this “art” project.
May 12th, 2008 at 8:15 amEveryone up to and in Canada has heard of this, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Europe did, too.
I think she needs some therapy and some taste of real life. She’s most likely some rich girl thinking she’s expressing herself. And Castillo (if it is a male) sounds like he was in on the insemination part.
