Dutch Council Of Churches Attacks “Fitna” For Scaring People

Catholic News Service:
OXFORD, England (CNS) - Churches in the Netherlands have condemned a Dutch politician’s anti-Islamic film.
“The image this film conjures up is one-sided and provocative,” the Dutch Council of Churches said in a statement March 28.
“Our churches believe society cannot be directed by fear,” the statement said. “If problems exist between the various groups … they should be settled only through joint dialogue.”
The churches were reacting to “Fitna” (”Strife”) by Freedom Party leader Geert Wilders. The film was posted on the Internet March 27 after Dutch television channels refused to screen it.
It said criticism of religious customs should be permitted in the form of “mutual conversation,” but added that the film contained an “unmerited caricature of Islam.”
“Our churches know the horror of violence and reject terrorism in any form,” said the council, whose 12 member churches include Catholics, Protestants, Anglicans and Orthodox.
“But they also believe a deep analysis of the current political situation in various countries should prompt greater dialogue with Islam. Priority should be given to solidarity, not hostility, between nations,” the council said.
The 15-minute film, released on a video-sharing Web site after weeks of heated debate, mixes images of the Prophet Mohammed and the Quran with pictures of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, as well as attacks on U.S. soldiers in Somalia and beheadings in Iraq.
Wilders, whose party holds nine seats in the 225-member Dutch parliament, told newspapers the film showed the Quran was “an inspiration for intolerance, murder and terror.”
Jan Gruiters, head of the Dutch branch of the Catholic peace organization Pax Christi, said in a March 29 statement “Fitna” showed “remarkable similarities with ideological propaganda by extremist movements” and would serve as an “ideal recruitment film for violent extremists.”
Can someone tell me what the hell is going on?
April 2nd, 2008 at 8:57 pmFitna just held a mirror up, it is not fiction.

Can someone tell me what the hell is going on?

Some will see, most will be blind
Its all I got left.
April 2nd, 2008 at 9:02 pmDammit, here we go again - we need “mutual conversation” and “joint dialogue” and “solidarity” The same old tired liberal lines - haven’t the libtards figured out yet that they will be the first to go once these lunatics finally try to take over?
How do you dialogue with people who deny your very right to exist, because you have not converted to their religion
Every time I read a news story like this, I am more convinced that Europe is well on the way to being truly lost to the muslim hoards.
April 2nd, 2008 at 9:09 pmThe only people scaring others about islam are muslims.
April 2nd, 2008 at 9:10 pmThe’ve forgotten that some things have to be fought for. They will relearn the hard way….I hope
April 2nd, 2008 at 9:11 pmI’m wondering what kind of “solidarity” the 12 member churches including Catholics, Protestants, Anglicans and Orthodox could possibly have with the Religion Of Piss.
I mean really, what exactly does any Christian church or Jewish temple have in common with The Death Cult of Mohammad?
April 2nd, 2008 at 9:55 pmPeople should be scared right out of their fucking minds over this.
April 2nd, 2008 at 10:27 pmFUUUCK! JUST, FUUUCK, FUUUCK, FUUUCK!
I had at least 18 hours into my Re-Production of “Fitna” and LiveLeak fucked up my whole theme by Re-Posting it… FUUUCK!
Oh, well… No problem! Thank God I’m not a suicide bomber, because the Se7en times in this post that I used all caps wouldn’t have been retribution enough… FUUUCK!
O.K., now that that’s out of my system I’ll add that Mormons and Jehovahs Witnesses knocking on my door while I’m performing my… Bare… Beer… Bacon… Barbecue… Ritual on Race day seems mild in comparison to what these FUUUCK’s could be doin to stifle my free expression and love for Beer and Bacon!

April 3rd, 2008 at 12:09 amPat,
April 3rd, 2008 at 1:17 amThanks for posting this. It is news stories like these, which make me very happy I am an atheist.
One thing I do find interesting in the whole Fitna controversy is something that both Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hutchins have touched upon in their work. To sum it up briefly; it is ok to criticize someone because of their job, income, preferred sexual partner, choice of car, political party affiliation, decorating taste, preferred handgun or rifle caliber, political belief, favorite beer, favorite sports team, assault rifle selection, favorite author, or favorite sexual position.
Normally amongst rational people these sorts of disagreements though at time fervent, can be banged out even if the end result is, “Agreeing to Disagree”
However one must never, ever criticize someone regarding their religion. Especially if one’s chosen faith is stuck in the 6th century, instead of trying to cope with the 21st. Insulting one the 6th century types might get you killed, thankfully if you disagree with one the 21st century types at worst will get you prayed for.
Now I must comment on the picture at the end of the article. Is it a snapshot of some weird Freemason/Shriner/Templar ceremony, or is it the casting call for the role of a wizard in some new Commiewood anti war flop?
Whoa…..stop folks. Isn’t this site also about the lies that are forced down our throats 24/7 by the MSM?
So, on some media-messages;pleace think twice. And please, don’t condemn the whole Dutch nation. Just remember that a good part of the Dutchmen are “silenced” to speak up about the matter. Not being political correct can be darn dangerous around here.
“Underground” the REAL meaning about this Fitna-matter is completely different then what keeps getting told.
It’s just that those who are “in power” show a completely WRONG picture.
And yes, a part of the Dutchmen are leftist libtard scumbags. But they are not the part of the community that are confronted with the daily impact the Muslims have on our society. The earthly difference between white- and blue-collar exists here also.

We’re not coming to rescue you a third time. You’re on your own. And, no, you’re not coming here.
——————-
Thanks John, I couldn’t agree more on the first part On the last: have a heart.
When things will become realy bad, it’s the white-collar that have the power and the money to flee the country. As far as I’m concerned, the leftish libtards can live under the Sharia. I couldn’t care less, they deserve it.
But, what about the blue-collar, those who are silenced and made live miserable the way Geert Wilders is. Those who don’t have any power nor money. Those who are soled out by our govenment, surpressed to allow all of this. Those who ARE gratefull about the aid given to throw out the Nazi’s?
Can they go to hell as far as you’re concerned?
April 3rd, 2008 at 4:35 amI wonder if they ever talk about Hell? Probably not, it might scare some people.
April 3rd, 2008 at 4:47 amWhat is wrong with these people? You can not have open dialog with a group that has no interest in talking; it is their way or death. Just more proof that democracy and freedom of speech is dying in Europe again. The silent majority everywhere needs to stand up to these bullies and fight for their freedom. The way things are going here in the U.S. I doubt we will be able to help anyone, we will be to busy trying to save ourselves from the disease of political correctness and Islamic rule. The world really does need to either wake up or speak up!!!!!
April 3rd, 2008 at 5:14 amYeah just wait until the jihadis start “scaring” peoples heads off over there. people need to wake up! im getting tired of saying that but its the truth
April 3rd, 2008 at 5:31 amDialogue? That is the plan? Hmmm, dialogue with the devil won’t work. There has to be some common ground, something that each side can give to the other to comprimise. The problem is that the basic principle of life is not agreed upon by both sides. In their own words, “We love death”, is the most important point. They do not believe humans have a place on this planet unless they believe in their (false) prophet (piss be upon him). Without the basic right to live, there is no common ground, no room for comprimise and there shouldn’t be. It is like someone trying to talk an alligator out of eating him. There is no changing the alligator’s mind and in the end, the alligator will get fed. Lesson is kill them before they kill you.
April 3rd, 2008 at 5:58 amFor those that are wondering, those guys in the picture are some sort of Eastern Orthodox Christians. Also, I haven’t seen one “Council of Churches” that isn’t a group of loony lefties. One big reason in the US why many mainline denominations are shrinking is because they have left their first love. That is teaching the Bible in its entirety. So many pick and choose what they like best and exclude the teachings they don’t. Either it’s all true or it’s irrelevant. They get this socialist Utopian view that the world is really a nice place. We all just have to adhere to their social gospel to just get along. Foolishness. The Islamists would at the very least subject them to being Dhimmis, but would probably just kill them. No good alternatives there.
April 3rd, 2008 at 6:06 amJust a couple-a-notes to the Dutch Council of Churches:
1) uh huh … well, now, how do you feel about the global warming scare movement being PUSHED by the leftists in the world?
2) “mutual conversation” and “joint dialogue” and “solidarity” … uh huh … well, FIRST go talk to and reason with the scorpion … and as soon as you have a mutual understanding with the scorpion, THEN you are ready to approach the jihadists for “mutual conversation” and “joint dialogue” and “solidarity” … You have forgotten the story of the turtle carrying the scorpion across the water on his back … the scorpion stinging the turtle half the way across and the turtle lamenting that now they both will drown? May I remind you the scorpion casually explained to the puzzled turtle as he died that deception and murder were in his nature …
3) JonnyMordant has beautifully summed up your thinking in one word … FUUUCK!
4) the 21st Century Crusade is on, and WE didn’t start it … so, pick a side or expose your necks … just shut up and get the fuck out of the way
5) denial is a weak and failed defense against those who see you as nothing more than a weed in their path to cut down … See: fascist Nazis circa 1930s-1940s
April 3rd, 2008 at 6:26 amDutchmen would be wise to grow a pair against this idiocy. Suggest they vote the Dutch Council of Churches ‘Ambassadors of Peace’ so that they may travel abroad and prove to the world, how peaceful dialogue with radical Islam should be conducted.
P.S. Remind them to wear traditional Christian garb & not to seek any protection while visiting Middle East holy cities-sites. Oh, and give them this (and similar reading material) after they board the plane and the doors are locked

On a more realistic note…
April 3rd, 2008 at 7:42 amWill Europe Resist Islamization?
http://www.danielpipes.org/article/5503
Every comment that I read made good points.
I just have one question. Why is that media goes nuts every time that islam (yes I have intentional not capitalized, and I hope that I have offended you)is offended, yet when muslims saw off the head of a non-muslim it is treated as no big deal?
And those of us here in the “Land of the Free” will not be for long if we do live up to being from “the home of the Brave” and stand up to all of these asshole here in the U.S. This includes CAIR, MSA, and all of the rest that want us to change to fit their culture.
The possible answer is that muslims sawing off the head of a living victim is not news, while the riots and killing following the perceived offense by islam.
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:10 amPax Christi is a nice name. But Caveat Emptor Dutchmen. The wolf is at your door and your countrymen are feeding it. So while you may presntly enjoy Pax Christi, if you continue to feed the wolf you will be enjoying Pax Sharia. Ever studied Sharia? Read up on it. You won’t like it. Sharia makes the inquisition look like a girl scout camp meeting by comparison.
There’s a cure for CRI. Come to Dollard Nation if you need further information on the cure.
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:32 amI wholeheartedly apologize for my supposedly Christian brethren and their inability to see evil for what it is.
Right now, there’s nothing I would love better than to go tell those fat retards in the picture where to go pound sand.
@Steve in NC: Perfect analogy about holding up a mirror. I couldn’t have said it better myself.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:04 amAll of this reminds me of something I heard while in
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:09 amline for fast food the other day…”All Muslims aren’t
crazed killers.” While this might be true, all Germans
were not Nazi’s. (or so they say, it was always the people
next door.) The bottom line is that this film should scare
the hell out of people. ESPECIALLY in Europe where they have seen this sort of thing before!
And although being Dutch,
I do not support the Dutch Churches on this,
I do not support the Dutch government on behaving the way they’ve done on the Fitna-subject,
I’ve been thinking for years already that Pax Christie must have been invaded by leftists (or aliens for that matter)
and
I’m very disappointed in most of my Dutch fellow country-men on the whole matter.
Jarvis:
ESPECIALLY in Europe where they have seen this sort of thing before!
————–
Amen on that.
I’ve been stating this here for many times.
It’s just fucking unbelievable how fast folks forget about history these days. (Not to mention how easy they seem to get brainwashed.)
All I’ve heard for the past 15-some years is how important it is NOT to allow fascisme again.
But what is happening right now here in Europe? And when those like Wilders warn the country, that warning is called……fascsime!
Comming May 4th we will commemorate those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for deliberating Europe from the Nazi’s. For the past years I do this at the base.
Because in my nation this commemoration is not about our liberators anymore. It’s about everything but.
I was flabbergasted last Friday, hearing the marching-band playing American tunes during a military ceremony. But ofcourse, this was ON base.
It felt good, very good. Like a big support in the back ’cause these days it seems only a few good men and women understand how I feel.
Therefore; Nec temere, nec timide In honour of “my guys” and a big Thank You to all who dared to speak out about Fitna here for the last days.
It feels good to be amongst you.
April 3rd, 2008 at 12:09 pmJeanet, perhaps I was a little harsh. Maybe you better gitt while the gitting’s good.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:50 pmJohn.
Thank you, I realy appreciate this. Not many would come back here and state this. It shows you’ve got balls. Bear-hug from me and have a .
To be honest;
For a moment I was in doubt, thought that me being Dutch was turning against me. Damn folks, you now me better by now.
But, I can understand the emotions towards the current development in The Old Country. (Europe.)
It takes thorough and much investigation to explain what exactly is going on in Europe in order to come up with an answer.
As far as the Dutch situation, I think I have a pretty good idea. I wonder If Pat will put Readers Post back on YA cause this could give me the chance to write one on the matter. (Which could be even more interesting with the whole Fitna-fittie taking place right now.)
For now all I can do is pray that sites like this one will grow. As far as I can see at least Pat does not bow his head and still has Fitna-The movie linked here. Besides that, I spotted Kurt Westergardens cartoon here as well.
Bowing my head humble for so much bravery.
(P.S. Explain the slang for me will ya? I’m still a blonde :).)
April 4th, 2008 at 4:29 amJeanet, the slang you may be referring to is the use of “gitt” instead of get? If someone wants to add a country or southern accent to their writing one would use that spelling. If you’re doing proper northern English one would write, “you better get while the getting’s good”. So, gitt on over here. You’re blonde, with you attitude they would probably hire right off the boat at the Fox News Channel. The President has given the order to disregard all local court concerns on getting the border wall built so it’s completed by the end of the year. It will slow things down with the swarming from the south. We’re being given a chance to catch out breath and sort things out at a more orderly pace.
So, it looks as though we’ll still have plenty of room for productive people to come and live here. You’ll love the place.
