“I turned off the no smoking sign. I figured since the engine is smoking why shouldn’t you?” ROLOL
Seriously folks, the dude fooked up. He knows better now. He’s lucky he got home safely. Thank God he did. Another warrior defies the odds. Hoo-ah.
How much you want to bet his heels got locked all the way up the chain of command to the Base Commander’s office over that one?
General Dynmaics sure does makes some good stuff.
April 25th, 2008 at 10:00 amyou can thank John Boyd for helping design one of the best fighter aircraft in history. I would of needed a new flight suit after that,

April 25th, 2008 at 11:44 amDid anybody call Algore to go save the tree?
April 25th, 2008 at 12:06 pmAs we used to say … “Only the good Lord and the lady that does my laundry knows how scared I was …”
Seriously … you train hard even in peacetime so you don’t bleed when the shooting starts. Yeah this guy fornicated in a vertical direction … but he was working his butt off. Air to ground weapons delivery and close air support are dangerous missions. Sometimes a small lapse of concentration is all it takes to loose an aircraft and a crew.
Thankfully this guy brought it back home … somewhat damaged .. but repairable. GD built a good aircraft … Republic did it better. Think this is bad? Look at some of the photos of F-105’s coming back with battle damage during Nam. One in particular sticks in my mind cause it brought back an entire SA-2 booster section stuck in it!
April 25th, 2008 at 3:00 pmAt the risk of pissing folks off I say this is an amazing aircraft easily worth another 15 years service after retro-fit
April 25th, 2008 at 3:18 pmand then a huge savings by NOT going to the f-22. Skip the 22
and then phase in the the f-35 JSF. (the savings in fuel alone would justify such a decision, 1 vs 2 engines)
