Iran Slams US Presence In Afghanistan
LONDON, April 22 - Iran’s envoy to Kabul has warned of problems due to US presence in Afghanistan, rejecting accusations of Tehran meddling in the country, PressTV reported.
Fada Hossein Maleki brushed aside US claims that Iran interferes in Afghan internal affairs and highlighted the various commonalities between the two nations.
He blamed Washington’s policies for the problems facing Afghanistan and voiced Iran’s concern about the adverse consequences of the presence of US forces in the country.
There can be no doubt that the presence of foreign forces in Afghanistan, for whatever reason, would negatively affect its neighboring states, he told reporters.
“The situation in Afghanistan would significantly improve if the global community were serious about fulfilling its commitments to the country,” he noted.
Maleki vehemently dismissed the unfounded allegations that Iran is supplying weapons to anti-government forces in Afghanistan, saying it was a political intrigue.
