Jury Acquits Soldier Charged With Iraqi Murder
WHEELER ARMY AIRFIELD, Hawaii - A court-martial panel has found a Hawaii-based soldier not guilty in the killing of an unarmed Iraqi last year.
Sgt. 1st Class Trey Corrales’ friends and family erupted in cheers when the head of the military panel, or jury, read the verdict.
The jury of nine soldiers acquitted Corrales of all three charges, including premeditated murder.
Corrales would have faced a minimum sentence of life in prison if he had been convicted.
Corrales says it feels like a 200-pound weight has been lifted from his shoulders.
He says he believes God never left his side.

GOOD!!!
I am fucking sick of our military being “visited by the sins” of the My Lai Massacre for eveything they have had to do in this war.
April 25th, 2008 at 10:44 pmWe send them to war and charge them with murder.
April 26th, 2008 at 3:41 amIt is plain sad the charges were ever brought. We can not allow the media to run this war, our military or our country. I am glad that this soldier found justice. I am sorry and ashamed he ever had to go through this.
April 26th, 2008 at 7:53 amWTF? Hey once you make the decision to go to war, let the soldiers do their job. The f*cking lawyers need to go back to their lattes and green tea…and stop playing like this is CIS or something. It isn’t.
Yeah, and I’m also sick of this Calley mentallity that pervades the LLMSM and the LLJAG Corps. F’*ck off JAG.
Time to go to the NCO club and buy that PSG a round of whatever he wants.
April 26th, 2008 at 8:43 amHey guys…lawyers are people too. They all need the work…
April 26th, 2008 at 9:54 amAre you kidding me???
April 27th, 2008 at 12:55 pmCorrales is a liar! He turned on his own men while in Iraq and here in the states. He pulled knives and guns on his own soldiers. Threatened to kill them. Then he put the blame for all of this on soldiers who died in a helicopter crash!?! Dead soldiers?!?!?! Those who can’t be here today to defend themselves. WTF is wrong with this picture? Corrales deserves jail time.
Since he was found “not guilty” shouldn’t Pvt. Shore be released from jail?!?!?! Think about the double standard here.
