‘Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.’
That pretty much sums it up for me.
April 9th, 2008 at 6:04 pmLOL, well now I know why daughter hates daddy.
April 9th, 2008 at 6:13 pmThank you Jon, today it could also be: “Ask not what is your country, let me tell ya everything that’s wrong with my country.”
April 9th, 2008 at 6:19 pmHis daughter is a bozo, (but has nice lips.)
April 9th, 2008 at 7:35 pmI don’t go to the movies for I do not want one penny of my money to go to Hollyweird.
But if Jon made a movie, I would go to see it. And a certain few other folk.
Jon,
I’m ten years younger, and I was taught, and still hold those same values, thank God. Thanks for speaking up.
April 9th, 2008 at 7:40 pmAnybody got a link to the whole thing?
April 9th, 2008 at 8:06 pmIm way younger and still hold those values, and will until the day i die. what can i say? i think its cool to love your country. i dont ask for much really but do try to give back whatever i can.
I always liked Jon Voight in movies. And he has never made me regret that fact either. good American
April 9th, 2008 at 8:26 pmIf JFK was transported into this present day the democratic party would shove him out the door.
April 9th, 2008 at 10:23 pmIn the last few months I have had occasion to watch twice, in my self-imposed limited TV time, “The Champ” with (a young) Mr. Voight and (little) Ricky Schroder … It has managed to elbow itself onto my somewhat revolving Top Ten Favorites list … and I tear-over every time at the end.
As to Voight’s political leanings … I heard him explain to Beck that he had been a young liberal during the Vietnam era, as was I (but much younger and dumber) … and he used the same reasoning that Reagan and Zell Miller … and perhaps even Joe Lieberman … use … “I didn’t leave the democrat party … they left me …”
In the early 1990s (when I saw Clinton and their machine coming at us and the MSM morphing into their butt-buddies) THAT is exactly what I felt … and I too left them.
April 10th, 2008 at 5:30 amJon Voight and others like David Horowitz (the anti-Chompsky) are of a different breed of liberal when being a liberal simply ment not much more than an open mind in the classroom and pro-civil rights for Blacks.
Now liberalism means socialism and anti-Americanism. You can thank the progressive schools, school boards and the entire education system for that.
Time for American taxpayers to withdraw funding for anti-American schools and demand the government butt the frick out of the schools.
Without government funding and the influence of the leftist teachers unions, the anti-American school system would die of its own dead weight.
We could then, bring back the old school system that was pro-American, Pro-Constitution, and pro-life.
It’s either that or everyone needs to home-school their kids for a few years.
Personally, I would rather see my taxes go to fund a school that more closely resembles a Horowitz or Voight ideal of a school.
Just remember garbage in…garbage out. Look at the Congress..Perfect examples of socialist educated tards.
The downfall of US education started in the 40’s with one dumb ass Supreme Court decision after another on education.
Take the school system back to what it was in the middle 40’s minus segregation, and you’d produce a new generation of Pattons Horowitzs and Voights.
The Zinns, Chompskys, Saids and Pelosis, Reids would be laughed out of existence.

Yes, Voight addressed just that. He called socialism communism’s brother, and confirmed the “liberals” of today are NOT the libs of yesterday … but are socialists who want the government in total control, unlike the liberals of yesteryear (which I was one also).
Some of us had an important awakening …
I believe these former “liberals” are an even more important voice in the political debate today than “always-a-conservative” voices, as they have seen it from both sides, and know which is the more sane and correct.
Voight also said that the Hollywood “activist” voices you hear really don’t know what they are talking about … aren’t fully aware of the horrific consequences their agenda(s) would bring about …
While I cringe at givng too much credit to Hollywood-types mouthing off in the public political forum, I gotta hand it to those who educate themselves to what they are spouting … and have an awakening therein.
And then there are those, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins, who obviously do “educate” themselves … but STILL are blind to the facts … VERY SCARY!
