April 21st, 2008 at 1:59 amIs that price by the pound or the total cost of the painting?
April 21st, 2008 at 2:17 amThe $35 mil painting comes with a dozen big ass nails to hang it.
April 21st, 2008 at 3:41 amegfrow while i agree that a lot of modern art is crap Lucian Freud is pretty amazing, the painting in question took a lot of skill. And though you may not care for the subject matter at least its not a lot of Jackson Pollock paint splashes or Kandinsky clap trap.
April 21st, 2008 at 5:07 amYou bastards, I clicked on the link to see a bigger picture of the nice lady on the main page. Wow, that painting harshed my buzz.

Pats probably laughing his ass off at us right now. you thought it was going to be the hot ass blonde on the thumbnail pic, but it was just a fatty
April 21st, 2008 at 7:48 amWhen I was in art school, a lot of my fellow students were big fans of Lucian Freud - he is definitely an artist of great skill, but his work never appealed to me that much. I’ve always thought his figures seemed cadaverous and his color palette seems sickly. Could be that’s part of his intent to shock but I’ve never been interested enough in his work to find out more.
agree with hegelbot too - most modern art is crap, using lazy techniques that are given academic and critical weight with florid explanations and attempts to add some sort of social context, usually not very well.
