Brian DePalma To Make Another Iraq War Film
Remember this bile? Glutton for punishment, this moron. Or else he’s a complete idiot. Or perhaps a plain old Troop hater.
How about all of the above…they even used a Bash Vid to help promote their tripe.
Did you know that to this day “Redacted”, which we helped lead the boycott against with great success, has grossed only about $70,000? Come on man, it tied with Ed Wood’s “Plan 9 From Outer Space” as the lowest grossing movie of all-time, and Wood’s film was 1950’s dollars!
Apparently the film’s tentative title is “Print the Legend” and he wants to focus on the whole Jessica Lynch thing. Proving again, that he despises the troops that protect the very freedoms he enjoys…
The production company is Film Farm.
The budget is allegedly $15 million. Let’s see, “Redacted” had a $5 million budget and grossed $70,000, so this one can be predicted to gross about $210,000.
From Cannes, an excerpt from an article via Politico:
Brian DePalma isn’t one to give up easily, either. Skewered last year by conservative critics for the box-office flop “Redacted,” the controversial director is returning to the Iraq war as the subject matter of his next picture.
That’s the news from Cannes, where Canadian distribution company Film Farm says it will back two new DePalma pictures: the director’s next Iraq attack and a more conventional political thriller with a higher budget.
DePalma, who got into a public spat with his previous distributor over last year’s low-budget, cinéma vérité flick about battlefield atrocities committed by a group of U.S. soldiers, plans to title his newest project “Print the Legend.”
“Redacted” was partly based on the rape of an Iraqi girl and the murder of her family by American soldiers in what has come to be known as the Mahmudiyah killings. This time around, the director is basing his script on the true-life story of U.S. Army Pfc. Jessica Lynch, whose capture and subsequent rescue in Iraq was later revealed to have been greatly exaggerated by the Pentagon.
[…]
“Redacted,” which drew the ire of both movie critics and pundits, including Bill O’Reilly and Michael Medved, was budgeted at around $5 million but grossed less than $70,000 at the U.S. box office during its brief and disappointing run. The movie sparked protests not only against DePalma but also against Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, whose Magnolia Pictures produced and distributed the picture.
The title of DePalma’s new flick, “Print the Legend,” comes from a line in the 1962 John Ford western “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” and refers to promulgating rumors and half-truths, rather than actual events, to sell newspapers.

Seems today Hollywood has forgotten they are a “business” … and are willing to sink more and more dollars into dead movies that add NOTHING to the industry, and suck it dry.
If any other corporation or industry practiced this way they would be bankrupt and long gone …
At the very least CEOs who did such loser deals would be gone …
May 20th, 2008 at 11:52 amSounds like Print the Legend ought to be an autobiography title for DePalma.
May 20th, 2008 at 11:54 ama rubrique for papa Bully, ouh ouh ?
May 20th, 2008 at 11:55 amWe’re getting our history revised for us already, and that fucktard hasn’t even started the film. Behold: “…whose capture and subsequent rescue in Iraq was later revealed to have been greatly exaggerated by the Pentagon.”
I clearly remember the military press liason at the time asking the media to lay off the story of Lynch until she was found, as their blatant over-hyping of the story was putting her at risk. Now the MSM-approved story line is that her situation was “greatly exaggerated by the Pentagon.” After DePalma is done with this story, I wonder if any truth will be left over at all.
May 20th, 2008 at 12:10 pmFilm Farm?
I’m simply amazed that Mark Cuban didn’t just jump all over this one…
May 20th, 2008 at 12:16 pmPissing more money down a rat hole. Just pay your taxes.
May 20th, 2008 at 12:18 pmThe film only grossed ~$65k in the US, but brought in >$700k internationally. Just goes to show that leftard propaganda that is anti-American has a wide global audience. Idiots.

“…refers to promulgating rumors and half-truths, rather than actual events, to sell newspapers.”

May 20th, 2008 at 12:39 pmThe more Money they spend on trash films that go belly up at the box office. The least amount of money they have to give to the Leftist Obama!!!!
May 20th, 2008 at 12:51 pmThis is what this sack of monkey shit focuses on? With all the tales worth telling in this liberation only a pompous commie would pick this story as a vehicle to show his lefty butt buddies how enlightened he is.
May 20th, 2008 at 12:53 pmIll be back in about 10 minutes, i have to go take a giant DePalma
May 20th, 2008 at 12:56 pmJust like John Ford, DePalma is another one of Hollywood’s great liars.
May 20th, 2008 at 1:13 pmIf at first you don’t make yourself a thermonuclear douchebag, try, try again.
I wonder if the film will open at Parris Island? Cannes seems too much like a soft target to me.
May 20th, 2008 at 1:43 pmLooks like war movies aren’t his thing. He should stick to scratch lotto instead.

nein, KANADOU will make nicer for you
May 20th, 2008 at 1:50 pmThe sad part is that de Palma is a good director. If only he could check his politics at the door like the rest of us do when we go to work, he might realize that there’s a profit to be made in making a movie that does not portray our soldiers as criminals and psychopaths.

The picture of DePalma that Melanie posted could be used for the epitome of a poster child liberal. With his failure rate I would look sorrowful also. To denigrate the brave men and women (who volunteer) is an egregiously reprehensible act.
May 20th, 2008 at 2:00 pmI wish depalma would find another target instead of Jessica Lynch!. She’s already been the subject of a TV movie about her (made WITHOUT HER PERMISSION!!!!) Jessica has moved on with life as she continue to cope on a DAILY basis with her injuries.
So depalma, LEAVE HER THE HELL ALONE!!!!
May 20th, 2008 at 3:55 pmBrian De Palma + Mark Cuban = Benedict Arnold.

May 20th, 2008 at 4:04 pmIt was fun protesting outside of Cuban’s pathetic little theater this past year, when all 8 people who went to see the DePalma movie said it sucked.
Fu*k you traitor mo fo!

May 20th, 2008 at 5:21 pmLooks like Jessica Lynch will have a lawsuit opportunity if it mirrors her life too closely…
