Bush To Be Targeted During Visit To Saudi Arabia

On May 10, 2008, a member of the Islamist forum Al-Ikhlas (hosted by Piradius Net, Malaysia) posted a message claiming that an “official in the Jihadi Intelligence Organization” has learned of a plan to assassinate President Bush. According to the posting, members of a pro-Al-Qaeda cell from a Gulf country have undergone sniper training in a Western country, and “will lie in wait during [Bush’s] upcoming visit [to Saudi Arabia].”

Jihadi Sources: President Bush Must Understand That The Region Is Not Safe For Him
On January 6, 2008, on the eve of U.S. President George W. Bush’s visit to the Middle East, Islamist websites posted a document announcing a global media campaign called “The [Middle East] Region is Not Safe From January 6 Through January 16, 2008.” The document calls on jihad supporters in general, and particularly on jihadist media centers, to set up a team operating around the clock during President Bush’s visit that will post, on the Islamist websites www.alhesbah.net/v and www.ek-ls.org, the numbers of martyrs in Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, and Palestine, and will incite Muslims to rise up against President Bush.
The document expresses astonishment that Bush dares to visit the region when hosts of jihad fighters are everywhere, and that he dares to come close to the area of danger and to think that he will be protected.
The document concludes with a call to jihad fighters in Palestine, Kuwait, Bahrain, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt - where Bush is yet to visit - to carry out suicide operations and to place bombs during his visit.

A Call to Assassinate U.S. President George Bush
On November 15, 2007, the Islamist website http://www.alhesbah.net/v (hosted by NOC4, Inc., in Tampa, Florida, USA) posted a message by a contributor calling himself Abu Osama Al-Hazin, titled “This Saturday, Bush Will Be in Riyadh; Lions of the Peninsula, [Get Ready] to Cut Off His Head.” It should be noted that an OPEC summit is slated to take place in Riyadh on Saturday, November 17, 2007, but there have been no reports that Bush intends to attend.
Following are excerpts from the posting: “[This is] a message to the Lions [i.e. jihad fighters] of the Arabian Peninsula… This Saturday [November 17, 2007], the Arabian Peninsula, home of the Prophet Muhammad, will be trodden upon by the Crusader dog, the foolish leader of the worldwide heresy and evil, [George] Bush. He will attend a summit, which will, to the best of my knowledge, be dedicated to world trade.
“Oh young [followers] of Muhammad! Hasten to assassinate this leader of heresy! [In reward], may Allah promote you to the highest spheres of Paradise. Oh brigades of martyrs, go forth with Allah’s blessing and lie in wait for this scoundrel everywhere, just as the Al-Qaeda fighters have been ambushing his soldiers in Iraq.”
