UPDATE:

District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis announced Tuesday that a five-month undercover operation at San Diego State University had resulted in 96 people being arrested on drug-related charges, including 75 students.

Eighteen SDSU students were arrested this morning and other related arrests have taken place over the past 12 months, San Diego State University Police Chief John Browning said.

The investigation was launched a year ago by campus police and targeted people suspected of selling illegal drugs to SDSU students, Browning said.

The students that were arrested have been suspended, pending a due-process review. Those living in campus housing have also been arrested, Browning said.

“SDSU will continue to do what is necessary, through both enforcement and
education, to encourage our students to make the responsible choices to ensure
the health and safety of our campus community,” SDSU president Stephen Weber
said in a release.

Items seized in the investigation included marijuana, cocaine, ecstacy pills, mushrooms, methamphetamine, illicit prescription drugs, one shotgun and three semi-automatic pistols. About $60,000 in cash also was seized, Browning said.

Ah yes, my alma mater making national news again for all the wrong reasons.
Indiana U. a party school? Perhaps. But it pales in comparison to SDSU.
I need a freaking beer.

  3. Max

Big surprise. State colleges and universities are overflowing with drugs, booze, and liberal indoctrination classes.

  4. Boo Boo

Oh, there’s a news flash. SDSU is reknown for being a party school…the word “brain dead” comes to mind when viewing typical students there…

i bet you would find alot of the same on most college campuses today. anyone know what prompted these raids?

  7. Jeff

The drugs aren’t all that surprising but wads of cash and guns? No. What happened to books and calculators?

    Kurt(T.I.),
Well brother I really don’t know other than the Feds/State are about 30 years late at SDSU on this one.
I’ll try to listen to the local news today and see if your question is answered with any validity.

i just found it had something to do with a cocaine overdose. oh and the faculty had noticed a serious rise in drug use on campus. guess they finally opened their eyes, how i interpreted it at least

I agree with your sentiments. drugs seem to go hand in hand with college campuses but the guns and money are a pretty new development.

To arrest 96 people, and get 1 shotgun and 3 handguns isn’t exactly a mega-raid, or surprising. It may have been one or a few of the dozen + non-student perps who had them. Or, maybe a student did but either way that’s not shocking to you guys is it?

This looks like it could be a smaller piece to the puzzle. The entire investigation might have ties to a Mexican drug cartel.

ok as of now, three hand-guns, one shot-gun, one pound of high-grade weed, looks like one kilo of cocaine. I think it was because of the overt dealing out of the frat houses of coke that the raid was prompted. About $100,000 in drugs.
That is what the local San Diego news has said so far since 12 pm pst.

For some reason law enforcment turns a blind eye to drug and alcohol abuse on college campuses. As well as under age drinking as most college students are under 21. When they see the same behavior other places they go after it full force. I hope this is the first of many such operations.

  19. will

dont you guys love it when jay leno goes to college campuses for the “jwalking” portion of his program where he asks average americans some questions about the world basic shit, and they dont have a gdamn clue. like what nation is bagdahd in ? or ask them are we fighting in afghanistan? their answers are always uhhh i donno

    Inventory:

four pounds of cocaine, 50 pounds of marijuana & 350 ecstasy pills.

    Will, good point.
The best Leno question I ever saw was when he was on a campus and asked, “What nation did the United States gain its’ independence from?”
    Answer, Ah, New Mexico!
Unfreaking real. I fell off my chair laughing so fu*king hard.
