He said to the US "We will crush you". No he didn't. We crushed him...and his communist utopia. The difference then aand during the Cold War is that the West put up a united front against the Soviets for 60 years. Today, there is no such thing. We didn't play the linguistic games with the Soviets that we play now with Islamo-facism. We didn't decieve ourselves into believing that appeasement would stem the tide of the "Red Menace". What finally beat the Soviets was an iron-fisted will and the take-no-prisoners philosophy of a RR. And where is that iron-will now? It certainly isn't at State or DOD? OBL has stated himself that Iraq is THE central theatre on the GWOT. He has also stated that the "Third Great Jihad" will continue until we (the West) defeat Islam or Islam defeats us. Where's our VOA? What strategy are we in the West employing to defeat political Islam? I don't see any. Redefining jihad? Preventing the useage of the words jihad and Islamo-facism? What's that suppose to do? Turn us into Dhimis? Are our nations now so full of Chamberlains that a Churchill could never be elected? War is part of the solution. One of Saddam's generals stated that the only reason Iraqis are cooperating is because the US had shed much Iraqi blood (in a just cause). War is a necessary component of the struggle against this 1400 year old version of Nazism. However, we have yet to direct our attention to the other centers of gravity in the GWOT: Saudi, Iran, and Waziristan. Only an iron hand and a program such as VOA, and the will to carry the war to the enemy by all of the West; in a united front, will prevent a takeover by jihadis in the west.
