Google Wants Your Medical Records
Whistling in the dark…past the graveyard. You know the graveyard? The one next to the Hospital?
Bash update added about half an hour after posting this article:
That nurse is fucking hot!
NEW YORK — Google Inc. is now offering the general public electronic access to their medical records and other health-related information.
The Mountain View, Calif.-based Web search leader announced the public launch of Google Health during a Webcast on Monday. It lets users import records from a variety of care providers and pharmacies.
Google tested the service by storing medical records for a few thousand patient volunteers at the not-for-profit Cleveland Clinic.
“It’s a really exciting day for us. We’re really happy to be able to offer this service to all our users,” Marissa Mayer, the Google executive overseeing the health project, said in the Webcast.

Man, I can’t hardly believe this is legal. Your medical records are a more closely guarded secret than your salary history in a corporation.
At least they used to be.
Where’s the neo-pagan left screaming about their civil liberties being trodded upon now?
May 19th, 2008 at 3:06 pmAdded footnote: I guess if you’re stupid enough to do this voluntarily, that makes it okay?
May 19th, 2008 at 3:07 pmYeah, you’d have to be pretty much out of your mind to allow Google (or anyone else) to do this.
May 19th, 2008 at 3:11 pmDon’t you get it, Google just uses the excuse of Universal Healthcare and the libs will be happy. Libs are perfectly content to give up their liberties to the collective.
May 19th, 2008 at 3:17 pmI guarantee you the same dolts that will think this is a great idea are the same ones that think a cashless society a swell idea too.
Never in my lifetime did I think I’d see the signs coming to pass of a one world government with complete control. We are quickly getting there.
May 19th, 2008 at 3:25 pmI would like to see my MIB and my PHR.
I am sure that medical assistant that can access it now is very trustworthy.
Remember YOU are being monitored for quality assurance.
May 19th, 2008 at 3:32 pmTwo things come to mind here for me:
1) I have found over my adult years that if I want MY OWN medical records, to say change doctors, I have to pay my current doc a fee to release “copies” to me
2) Hillary a couple years ago when she got into the Senate stated she hoped to establish a computer “data base” of everyone’s medical records (and I never heard a good enough reason why) … even though her own husband while Prez refused to release his …
May 19th, 2008 at 3:49 pmGoogle has really become a giant scary machine over the past few years. monitoring and logging everything you type in to their search engine and now this. seems a bit too much to me
May 19th, 2008 at 3:58 pmI’m no paranoid freak like the left because I generally think our government so bloated, it can’t find its ass with both hands, but this firm scares me.
First, they’ll get enough rubes to volunteer for this and it will eventually provide some benefit by accumulating enough data for things like epidemiology to “track” trends.
And after awhile, it will become popular enough that more people will volunteer with some tangible benefit to diagnose themselves with the help of subject matter experts, possibly as a sell for cheaper healthcare. Sooner or later, this could possibly become mandatory - and you mark my words, if you want coverage you’ll participate.
I can see a huge danger in this coming down the pike.
May 19th, 2008 at 4:28 pmThis doesn’t make me safer, so I’m opposed to it.
May 19th, 2008 at 6:06 pmWhen will Google be offering the bar code on your forehead and hand for easy checkout at the store?
May 19th, 2008 at 7:02 pmhey… if it helps Michelle’s kids then I’m all for it cuz if i’m not…. i’m a racist

May 20th, 2008 at 2:13 amI was told that the main health probem in America was all about penis length, otherwise we wouldn’t get that many cookies “enlarge your penis”, via google, so google is watching your net surfings… y comprise of the racist’ s
