Hardcore Republicans Vote Democrat In Indiana
Show of hands! How many think that even if Hillary lost both states, she’d still stay in the race?
“I’m a hardcore Republican,” she said, “but it’s about who I wanted in second place in case McCain doesn’t make it. … I don’t like the way this country’s been run in the last 20 years. I’m sick of the dynasty (of two families) that’s been running things.”
From an article at Indystar.com:
The two precincts at Broad Ripple Family Center selected Republican Jon Elrod over Democrat Andre Carson in March’s special election for U.S. Congress. But by 9 a.m., just 21 voters in one of those precincts had requested Republican ballots — out of 168 cast.
Amid heavy turnout, Republicans appeared to be crossing over in droves today in Marion County and suburban counties, where fewer Republican voters might impact down-ticket primary races.
At the Broad Ripple center, nearly 400 voters — of 1,800 registered in the two precincts — had turned out in the first few hours of voting. Among them was Meghan Ward-Bopp, 24, who went against family tradition and asked for Democratic ballot so she could vote for Barack Obama; she plans to vote for Republican John McCain in November.
“I’m a hardcore Republican,” she said, “but it’s about who I wanted in second place in case McCain doesn’t make it. … I don’t like the way this country’s been run in the last 20 years. I’m sick of the dynasty (of two families) that’s been running things.”
Ward-Bopp voted for the Democrat she liked, but Jim Adams, 36, voted for Hillary Clinton to keep the race going beyond Indiana. He’s a McCain backer and enjoys watching the Democrats fight.
“In the end, I think McCain is going to win,” Adams said, and then referred to controversial statements by Bill Clinton and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s pastor. “Bill can’t keep his mouth shut, and the reverend can’t keep his mouth shut.”
The Republican strongholds in the counties around Indianapolis have high demand for Democrat ballots.
“We’ve seen more Democrats so far in the first few hours than we’ll usually see in a day,” said election judge Barb Stauch at Avon United Methodist Church in Hendricks County.
“We’ve had a lot of questions about switching. People want to know if they can switch back and forth, if they can vote Democratic this time,” said election clerk Cara Paasch at the church.
Democract Liisa Le, 45, voted at the church this morning. She said she was most interested in the presidential primary and the Avon School Board race.
“The issues facing this country are huge. The economy, the problems with gas, the problems with real estate, the problems with food prices … must I go on?” said Le, a stay-at-home mother.

Hehehehe!!!
May 6th, 2008 at 8:14 amDon’t forget Rush Limbaugh’s Operation Chaos which is probably one of the biggest reasons Repubs are crossing over.
May 6th, 2008 at 8:16 amJust got back, and oh yes! operation chaos is in full effect. trust me
wink wink, nudge nudge

I think it’s “The ” reason for the crossover vote
May 6th, 2008 at 8:26 amHillary will never quit. She’ll go down in a shower of sparks first.

May 6th, 2008 at 9:15 am^^^
We’ve got 99 problems and the bitch is one. lol
I was thinking of voting Democrat. Personally I’d rather see Clinton in the General. 1-No fucking chance of beating McCain 2-Better to have a closet Commie than an in your face, demanding change Commie.
But I registered Republican considering I couldn’t vote in the primaries.
May 6th, 2008 at 9:20 amRush’s operation chaos - plus Broad Ripple is a fairly liberal area. Lot’s of 35 year old’s on skateboards there.
May 6th, 2008 at 10:04 amStart preparing yourself now-
It is all but certain now that Obama will be the next president and that we will have some sort of universal healthcare. Combine with that the astronomical amount of benefits due to retiring baby boomers and the expenses associated with an ever escalating war on “terror”. And on top of that throw in a ever deteriorating dollar and the loss of US manufacturing capability. We are doomed.
I don’t like it, but we better start preparing for it.
May 6th, 2008 at 10:08 amThe Democrats have been running their own version of Operation Chaos under the Republican/Conservative radar. Why do you think we have so many weak-kneed, invertebrate, pseudo-Republicans in office? * With noted exception!
May 6th, 2008 at 10:38 amWe already have national health care. Just visit any army, navy, or VA hospital and see how well it runs. Mostly great and talented staff, union techs and support with attitude, and significantly less funding than needed for the service they are supposed to provide by law. Except Walter Reed and Bethesda where the congress goes–they have money.
May 6th, 2008 at 10:43 amI love this!! The Dems are in a real pickle. Nominate Cankles and piss off the Black vote and never win again or nominate Barry, placate the Black vote but lose in the general election.
Rush could not have imagined the success of Operation Chaos in his wildest dreams!!!
May 6th, 2008 at 10:44 amTom: You’re dreaming. The Messiah will never win the general, ever…..
May 6th, 2008 at 11:05 amIrish gal- oh yes he will… especially if there are republicans out there who actually still listen to Rush Limbaugh.
May 6th, 2008 at 11:19 amYour point is???
May 6th, 2008 at 11:57 amLimbaugh’s plan was to have Republicans vote for Hillary Clinton and knock Barack out of the race.
May 6th, 2008 at 12:01 pmLimbaugh’s plan was to have the race continue as long as humanly possible so as to tear apart the Democratic party as much as possible. I don’t think a Hillary nomination was his goal. As for Obama, he’s been tanking since super Tuesday. I would like to know how many people regret voting for him in pre “bitter comments” and pre “Wright” states. The guy can’t take the stress of eating a waffle and talking to a reporter. He is never going to be able to handle the general election.
May 6th, 2008 at 12:08 pm“…every timke they open their mouth:. Yeah that’s MacNasty too.
The best thing MacNasty can do it keep his mouth SHUT. Because everytime he opens it, he ticks (I quit swearing) me off…

May 6th, 2008 at 1:15 pmIf Republicans are crossing over to vote Dem in the primaries let’s hope they remember to cross back in the general.
I really hope John McCain will come out and start fighting, be lean, mean, fast and dirty. The Party needs some serious inspiration. And soon. So far he’s like Bob Dole in 96.
May 6th, 2008 at 7:30 pmAll the democrats keep going on about the economy.
May 7th, 2008 at 3:11 amThey ain’t seen nothing yet. If Hussein gets elected,
we will lose five big American cities within 24 months of his
taking over.
My guesses:
New York - cause it’s always New York
DC - because it’s the capital
Miami - because it’s “sinful”
San Diego - because it’s an important Navy harbor
Seattle - for no good reason but because it’s there
Also London and Paris will be destroyed.
They will be nuked by Iranian/Pakistan atomic bombs, brought here
by smallish sailing yachts. Sure we will respond, probably Hussein
wouldn’t but I’m guessing that in that case the Joint Chiefs of
Staff will depose him.
Wonder where you can safely put your savings to weather an event like
that - with a good chance the world banking system will collapse.
Remember - most depositor’s savings are uninsured. Then you’ll
see a real recession. (To put it mildly)
There are two chances to avoid this scenario. One depends on an
election, the other - preemption, depends on President Bush acting
before he leaves office.
Debka says he will, but who knows? I always thought that
if he did act, it would be after the general election in October,
but you can’t figure out President Bush.
Noted that naval forces are once again building up in the
Persian Gulf. There a lot of dots out there, begging for connection.
Operation Chaos is working like a charm. LOL
May 7th, 2008 at 3:53 amDittos to all!
Wish I lived in IN instead of IL so I could have some of the fun. I guess it is just like a Bash Award, I’m never in the right place at the right time.
Keep the CHAOS rolling and Semper Fi to all!
