May 22nd, 2008 at 11:14 amGee … I hope Keith Olbermann didn’t see that …
May 22nd, 2008 at 11:23 amBig round of applause for the unsung heroes … not just today but every day … the families of those sent in harms way! It’s pretty tough being half-way round the world and dealing with the ‘challenges’ military service throws your way.
But think about the folks back home. Trying to get by without a husband/father - wife/mother is pretty tough by itself — let alone the worry about weather your loved one is OK. The GI has his/her compatriots for company not necessarily so the family left behind .. often long distances from other family members.
Every time I went TDY/remote I knew I could handle anything that came my way. But what about the family left behind? It’s tough to raise a family with two — let alone a single parent. You have no idea of the peace of mind my wife gave to me through her competence in dealing with the inevitable household emergencies. Her solution may not have been mine — but the problem got taken care of and my phone didn’t ring!
So Here’s to ya spouses of service people world wide. You are the rock upon which our families are built and the one we want to come home to!

Thanks for posting Bash. I’m going to put it in today’s Open Thread over at NewsBusters.
Oh man… I think… Yeah there’s something in my eye. Yes it’s in both eyes.
The day you leave and the time you spend over there is about worth the homecoming. I love coming home from Iraq.
