Jessica Lange Bashes Iraq War In Graduation Speech

And second, if you want to commit yourselves to the “pursuit of peace”, don’t listen to the bias of the MSM. Start paying attention to the people that are actually fighting the war and have WON it..

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. –Oscar-winner Jessica Lange bashed the Bush administration and denounced the war in Iraq during a commencement address at Sarah Lawrence College.
The star of “Tootsie” and “Blue Sky” was applauded by students Friday at the small liberal arts college after comparing the conflict with the Vietnam War. She said the graduates have “a heavy burden” to chart a new path for the country.
“We are living in an America that, in the last seven and a half years, has waged an unnecessary war, established prison camps, condoned torture, employed corporate armies, eliminated the right of habeas corpus, practiced extraordinary rendition, and believe me, this is only a partial list,” Lange said.
Lange asked the graduates, including her 22-year-old daughter Hannah Shepard, to commit themselves to the “pursuit of peace.”

I worked closely with her younger brother for awhile. He was a good guy. Played linebacker for North Dakota State or some other smallish school in the upper Midwest and wrecked his shoulder.
He was working his way up the airline pilot ladder starting with the shit commuter operations. Think he finally got to Northwest after we parted.

When I finished my undergrad degree we had Edward James Olmos as our commencement speaker. I left there thinking I want that 30 minutes of my life back. It was empty pious platitudes about nothing. What a waste of time. Just because someone has been on TV doesn’t mean they have anything to say that’s relevant to real life.

I called the College President’s office. I s/w a very nice woman, apparently a secretary. She informed me the woman responsible for inviting Lange for the commencement speech is no longer with the college. Still unforgiveable that the college would invite Lange to deliver such a hateful speech.
