Memorial Day Weekend Remembrances
I want to take this time to remember all our fallen service members through the history of our nation…
I have always said, If it wasn’t for the military members of our nations past, we would not have the military members we now have and will have in the future…
This weekend was always special to myself and my family for as far back as I can remember…
Our home always had the American Flag flying for this weekend…
My father would never let us forget the sacrifices of the men and women of our military, our nation endured to give us the freedoms we have.
He was a WWII Navy veteran who passed away in 1996.
He loved the USA more then life itself….
In 1991 he was able to see the USS Missouri pull into Pearl Harbor for the final time…
In this photo you can see the “Big Mo” in the background…
She was decommisioned shortly after…
And so was he….
He was a very proud man who knew that freedom was not free and passed his love for this country and its servicemembers on to every one of us kids . .

A digital image of the wall — actually thousands of photos fused together — locates each veteran’s name where it appears on the memorial. From there, any visitor to The Times site can leave their stories and remembrances or upload photos of veterans. Start by clicking on the “Search the Wall” box, where you can select “Search” or “View.” Once you find the name of a soldier, you can add your stories or photos.

The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. May 24th, 2008 at 1:41 pmThere are tards in Europe that refer to America as the “great bully”. Those same tards never lived through WWI or WWII. They take their freedom’s for granted. They haven’t the foggiest as to what that freedom cost many.
The legacy of our fallen heroes is legion: D-Day, Iwo, The Bulge, Inchon, I Corps, Somalia, Lebanon, Gulf War I, Iraq II and Afghanistan.
Americans have died in large numbers to gurantee and preserve the freedom of the spoiled west.
Ungrateful, subsequent generations cannot fathom the price that the boys at Point De Huc paid or The 29th paid or the 173rd, 101st and 82nd or the Marines paid at Iwo, Saipan, et al., to ensure those freedoms from that generation to this generation.
This spoiled generation didn’t fly those deep missions to Tokyo, or Berlin or walk to and from the Yalu in the dead of winter.
No. They have no sense of history and no love of the military. They’re too caught up in “Liberation Theology” or the sophistry of Zinn, Chompsky, Said and Alinsky. They put us all in peril.
And yet, even from this generation the cream rises to the top. New heroes like Mcginnis, Monsoor stand four-square with the Murphys, and the Yorks from previous generations.
Freedom is NOT free. Sometimes it takes all we got to preserve it. The war against jihadistan is just such a war.
The previous generations have passed the torch to this generation. It is up to them to carry on.
To those whose legacy is written in the annals of history and on the stone markers that mark their final resting places, we owe a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.
It is the soldier, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,
who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the soldier,
who salutes the flag,
who serves under the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
who allows the protester to burn the flag.
