No Dingo …
Oddly enough, we have these critters in my neck of the woods.
The ‘country boys’ in my extended family use them for ‘target practice’ … They’ve been known to attack the dogs and farm animals out their way. When they bait them onto their property at night … BAM!
Nanny Rips Baby Girl From Jaws of Coyote in California Sandbox
CHINO HILLS, Calif. — A nanny pulled a 2-year-old girl from the jaws of a coyote when the animal attacked the toddler and tried to carry her away in its mouth, officials said.
The girl was playing Friday in a sandbox at Alterra Park in Chino Hills in San Bernardino County. Around 10:30 a.m., the caretaker heard screaming and saw a coyote trying to carry the child off in its mouth, officials said.
The babysitter grabbed the child and pulled her from the coyote’s grasp, the sheriff’s department said in a statement.
The coyote then ran off into nearby brush.
The child suffered wounds to her buttocks and was taken to Chino Valley Medical Center and was later released, director of nursing Anne Marie Robertson said. She was later transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center to receive the rabies vaccine.
San Bernardino County Animal Control and the State Department of Fish and Game were searching for the animal, Wiltshire said.
Miller said there was another attack in the area in October when a coyote bit a 3-year-old girl playing in a cul-de-sac. The girl needed treatment for puncture wounds to the head and thigh, Miller said.

Coyotes are very numerous anymore here in Ohio. They are a pain in the ass while you are turkey hunting too. I had one come in and attack my turkey decoy on a hunt a couple of weeks ago. Glad the child is ok!

Yep … that’s where I’m at … Ohio.
Weird to hear them howl at night when I’m out that way.
May 3rd, 2008 at 9:52 amheheh I love it when the packs come through in the morning to go back to the top of the hill. They yip and yap and howl and make all kinds of racket!
May 3rd, 2008 at 9:59 amI don’t live too far from Chino Hills. We see these guys all the time but they are apparently afraid of our dogs since they avoid our yard. I was a little shocked to see a mountain lion in the yard one night about a year ago though. Grabbed a and my 3-iron. Fortunately, the 3-iron and a very large rock were all it took to drive it off.
May 3rd, 2008 at 10:29 amThe thing I miss most about Camp Pendleton is up on the north tip where they hide the infantry, every night when taps would sound over the loud speaker you could hear the coyotes howling in reply.
May 3rd, 2008 at 11:14 amCoyotes are one of the few animals that have actually increased their natural range along with the growth in the human population. Thanks to trash and the easy prey of pets coyotes now inhabit suburban areas where they never historically were. If the lefties have their way and abolish hunting, this is going to happen more and more…similarly to how in CA since the abolishment of Mtn Lion hunting, depredation permits have skyrocketed.
I do not sport hunt anymore, but I still love to go out and try and pop a Yote every now and then.
May 3rd, 2008 at 12:15 pmGo easy on the yotes, there kinda fat along the AZ/Mex border for some reason. heh heh heh

I too was calling a gobbler two weeks ago here in Virginia and a large coyote came to my calling. I busted his ass! I could not believe it and wondered why the Tom I was calling hung up before I saw the grey beast.
