“Out Of Africa”: Flight Over Africa
Just because I’m “in a mood” …
Thank you, Sydney Pollack … God rest you.

What a beautiful film

May 28th, 2008 at 12:26 pmI had to watch it in my 20th-century World History course, my senior year. The cinematography was alright, but I just couldn’t get into the movie. “Lawrence of Arabia” was much more captivating (we saw that the same semester).
Heh, heh, we always joked about how the tigers gave Blixen syphilis. C’mon, we’re guys, whadya expect?

Yeah, I only watch ‘for the pictures’ myself … The story and ‘romance’ wasn’t that interesting for me, anyway.
May 28th, 2008 at 12:57 pmThe story, to me it was the best relationship movie I have seen. The need for the streep character to get a commitment from the redford character and his refusal to commit was classic conflict. I thought they did it well.
I admired his character’s and his ’screw it woman, you can’t own me’ attitude.
Nothing worse than a pussy whipped man. Don’t be that guy.

For me I think it was Redford in the role … I never was a Redford fan. Even though I can’t stomach Babs Streisand, I hated the way he treated her commie-lovin’ ass in “The Way We Were” … After that his characters just struck me as complete narcissistic asses … even “The Natural” … although that movie has one of my all time favorite endings in a movie.

The leftist commies of hollywood have really turned me off many films. I just pass on them now. Not sure I would watch this film if it came out today.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:30 pmI actually had a neighbor, a Lady of a certain age, who did grow up on a farm in Africa, Ruanda, to be precise. She said — as far as Africa, and its people, customs, animals etc. — that they nailed it exactly.
May 28th, 2008 at 6:17 pmI’ve got a friend at church who left Zimbabwe and now there’s nothing to go back to.
May 28th, 2008 at 11:00 pmThese guys look at America with awe and wonder at the security and safety we enjoy then they comment that we won’t help because Zimbabwe has no oil, I hope thats not true even though on the surface, one might say that.
I then wonder about what Jesus said about making disciples of nations, because if we are unwilling, Islam will do it instead.
