Ron Paulnuts Conspiring Chaos For Republican Convention
Just bear in mind this is the L.A. Times reporting this story. But Basically what they are saying is they believe that Ron Paul’s base can make a convincing appeal to Republican Conservatives that are uncomfortable with some of McCain’s more centrist-to-left leaning stances.
Bt I don’t think they’ll have any credibility, frankly. What we have to be concerned about, is these loons joining up with (dollars to donuts thay already have) a group known as The RNC Welcoming Committee, and just plain cause trouble a la Chicago 1968.
More on that later today…
Virtually all the nation’s political attention in recent weeks has focused on the compelling state-by-state presidential nomination struggle between two Democrats and the potential for party-splitting strife over there.
But in the meantime, quietly, largely under the radar of most people, the forces of Rep. Ron Paul have been organizing across the country to stage an embarrassing public revolt against Sen. John McCain when Republicans gather for their national convention in St. Paul at the beginning of September.
Paul’s presidential candidacy has been correctly dismissed all along in terms of winning the nomination. He was even excluded as irrelevant by Fox News from a nationally-televised GOP debate in New Hampshire.
But what’s been largely overlooked is Paul’s candidacy as a reflection of a powerful lingering dissatisfaction with the Arizona senator among the party’s most conservative conservatives. As anticipated a month ago in The Ticket, that situation could be exacerbated by today’s expected announcement from former Republican Rep. Bob Barr of Georgia for the Libertarian Party’s presidential nod, a slot held by Paul in 1988.

May 12th, 2008 at 8:32 amGoddamn who’d be dumb enough to vote for Ron Paul? Really?! Listen yes, a lot of conservatives are pissed off at McCain. But they know that there is not chance that Paul could win. Moreover they know that the race between Obama and McCain will be close, and that if McCain isn’t elected we get a leader who’s been a member of a racist, socialist church, wants peace talks with terrorists and their sponsors, wants to cut both military funding and research. Moreover he wants to demolish our largest nuclear advantage over other countries [ICBMs}. Only a complete idiot would vote for Paul when the outcome will most certainly be the destruction of our country under the leadership of Obama.

May 12th, 2008 at 8:54 amThe Paulnuts that I’ve encountered were not any kind of conservative that I recognize. People who want America to withdraw from the world and pretend that everything will be just fine without us keeping the Jihadists in line are flat-out wrong IMO.
Some of them at least also think Israel should be just cut loose and let go to sink or swim on their own. I disagree completely.
Their dogma has overcome their common sense.
