The Setting: Operation River Gate, October 4, 2005. The town: Haqlaniya.
The unit, 504th PIR. Part of Task Force Blue Devil.
Intercepted radio commo from AQI insurgent leader in Al-Haqlaniya (AH) to another cell leader(AR):
AH: “They have us by the balls”
AR: “These guys (Blue Devils) are special. They aren’t (unintelligable)… They are crack soldiers. You can’t even get close to them. They are everywhere.”
AH:” Yes, they really have us by the balls here. Is it like that everywhere else?”
AR: “No. That is what we can’t figure out. My guys in Barwana and Haditha are moving freely. We can’t figure out why Haqlaniyah is so different.”
AH: “I don’t know either. But, can you get us out of here?”
