Speed Racer Crashes At $20 Million…Iron Man Triumphs At $50 Million - With Videos
I guess Speed Racer did only half of what Warner Bros had hoped, but wow! Look at Iron Man!
$50 Million in its second weekend, staying atop the box office charts.
I must admit, when I was a kid I had a steamer trunk full of old comics that I traded for GI Joes in like, 1974 (I know, kill me, I know there were a few Marvel first issues in there, but…who knew?)…
…BUT…I would have taken anything Speed Racer over anything Iron Man back then. I watched Speed Racer daily as a kid.
Fukn daily. So I am looking forward to seeing the movie, although I will wait for DVD. Strangely, I’m looking forward to watching Iron Man over Speed…There are several Iron Man trailers out there…I love this one best…
Some of you may not know this, but I have had a few books published, and in the intro to my short story collection I talk about how even though Sam Andrew (Big Brother & Holding Co/Janis Joplin guitarist) was our neighbor (my Dad was their drug dealer), I preferred the Speed Racer theme song over “Piece of My Heart” any day…back then.
When I was 9…LOL…
I know…foolish kid…
Loved Iron Man, glad I saw it in the theatre. I see maybe one or two movies at the Theatre per year now and only if they are showing at one of my favorite places. I may even see Iron Man again, just to in hopes that they figure out that not dogging the USA is good for sales.
