This Really Pisses Me Off - Your Opinion Sought

I live in Oregon, we vote by mail a lot, I like that. I got my ballot today. Big Fucking deal. I feel like I had NO say in picking the Republican nominee. I’ll vote on the local stuff and all of that. One thing cool about vote by mail is I can sit here with the ballot and the Voter’s Pamphlet, take my sweet time, and check out all the propositions and such.

Then I’ll put my ballot in the mail and on May 20th they’ll announce winners and losers.

But I didn’t get to vote for who I wanted to be the Republican nominee. Trust me, my first choice was not McCain.

Hell, he wasn’t even my third choice.

There are two names I have to pick from here on my Republican Primary ballot…

John McCain and Ron Paul.

I’m just a little pissed right now. I follow politics, I have to if I want to be any good at what I do here at PD.com, oh, and by the way, did you know that our website is the #1 Military blog in the world, and in the top 40 amongst worldwide “Political” blogs?

This according to Blogads.

Like I was saying, I have to follow politics closely so I don’t sound like a complete idiot when I post commentary here. And I haven’t been pissed off like this at all during this whole primary season. This anger that I am experiencing right now has caught me by complete surprise.

But man, am I freaking pissed off.

John McCain or Ron Paul…those are my choices.

I honestly believe that we should hold the Primary Elections just like we do the General, all on the same day.

Yeah, I like that idea.

Wait! There is a third choice. I can write in my vote.

Louie is oinking wildly in the background. He wants me to write him in…

Sorry Louie, I don’t vote for dead jihadis like you.

Can anybody relate to this? Or is it just me?

    You liked Ron Paul?

There are many ways to analyze or evaluate candidates. Background. Character. Judgment. Education. Platform. Speaking skills. Scrabble score. Dick length or tit size.

Education? Jimmy Carter’s education is impressive. His judgment is abysmal.

Speaking skills? GWB’s are appalling. His character is a lot better, in my opinion, than most.

Platform? Reagan’s was outstanding. His Scrabble score was ridiculous.

Ron Paul? His platform is outstanding. His mentality belongs to knuckle-dragging apes.

McCain? His character and background are sterling. His platform comes out of an open fucking sewer.

Take your choice. Your vote is your own.

Frankly, I would rather drink myself into a stupor than bother voting this year, if only to keep that spunk-monkey Hussein from stepping ONE FOOT into the White House.

No offense. Just my arrogant opinion.

Nah dude. It’s just you.
The Middle East is gonna get alot hairier than it has been. I want a guy at the top that sees that coming. Are there alot of things I disagree with McCain about? Yeah. But that ain’t one of em and it’s the most dangerous one of our time.
The markets have been manipulated to create the right conditions for the the Dhimmis to take power. Dhimmi control of the White House again is going to make the fuck-ups of the Carter years look like the gravy train. And shit really did suck in 79.

The problem with all at once is it’s supposed to be a vetting, that’s why the spread over time. I am not sure there is an answer, except maybe NOT ALLOWING candidates to drop out until the convention, then have areal convention.

    It’s complicated …

Congrats on the site, it’s my number one read daily.

Bash, you live in Oregon? What do all those pot smokin’ tree hugging liberal whack jobs think of you and Louie setting the record straight? I didn’t think there was anyone with a brain left on the far west coast! You’ve proved me wrong! Maybe it’s not so bad as I thought. Is it?

    “…it’s supposed to be a vetting…”

The asswipe would never clear a top secret background check conducted by competent professionals rather than the schoolgirls like Chris Matthews that supposedly perform the task.

    The Scorpion and the Frog
One day, a scorpion looked around at the mountain where he lived and decided that he wanted a change. So he set out on a journey through the forests and hills. He climbed over rocks and under vines and kept going until he reached a river.
The river was wide and swift, and the scorpion stopped to reconsider the situation. He couldn’t see any way across. So he ran upriver and then checked downriver, all the while thinking that he might have to turn back.

Suddenly, he saw a frog sitting in the rushes by the bank of the stream on the other side of the river. He decided to ask the frog for help getting across the stream.

“Hellooo Mr. Frog!” called the scorpion across the water, “Would you be so kind as to give me a ride on your back across the river?”

“Well now, Mr. Scorpion! How do I know that if I try to help you, you wont try to kill me?” asked the frog hesitantly.

“Because,” the scorpion replied, “If I try to kill you, then I would die too, for you see I cannot swim!”

Now this seemed to make sense to the frog. But he asked. “What about when I get close to the bank? You could still try to kill me and get back to the shore!”

“This is true,” agreed the scorpion, “But then I wouldn’t be able to get to the other side of the river!”

“Alright then…how do I know you wont just wait till we get to the other side and THEN kill me?” said the frog.

“Ahh…,” crooned the scorpion, “Because you see, once you’ve taken me to the other side of this river, I will be so grateful for your help, that it would hardly be fair to reward you with death, now would it?!”

So the frog agreed to take the scorpion across the river. He swam over to the bank and settled himself near the mud to pick up his passenger. The scorpion crawled onto the frog’s back, his sharp claws prickling into the frog’s soft hide, and the frog slid into the river. The muddy water swirled around them, but the frog stayed near the surface so the scorpion would not drown. He kicked strongly through the first half of the stream, his flippers paddling wildly against the current.

Halfway across the river, the frog suddenly felt a sharp sting in his back and, out of the corner of his eye, saw the scorpion remove his stinger from the frog’s back. A deadening numbness began to creep into his limbs.

“You fool!” croaked the frog, “Now we shall both die! Why on earth did you do that?”

The scorpion shrugged, and did a little jig on the drownings frog’s back.

“I could not help myself. It is my nature.”

Then they both sank into the muddy waters of the swiftly flowing river.

Self destruction - “Its my Nature”, said the Scorpion…

Don’t let it get to ya Bash. Just do what I did and expend some of that pent up anger building a bomb shelter. You’ll thank me later.

I’m a registered Dem in Oregon and I vote for the person who I think is going to most easily be beaten by McCain.

Right there with you man. It’s only the damn primary. Vote the down ticket items according to your beliefs then leave the presedential primary section blank. Hell, I’d tell you to do what I did (republican was already chosen by Texas) but you guys might actually have something to go for on your primary.

Come general election time???? Get drunk, hold your nose and keep at least the jihadis at bay then we can handle “Homeland Security” ourselves. :gun: :gun: :gun:

I am with you on that one.
Hello and THANK YOU! :gun:

    Bash,

    I just don’t want Obama.

If McCain does not win - then as much as it chokes and pains me to say it - even Hilary would be better than Obama. He cannot win.

  16. Kentucky Jim

I feel the same and my wife feels even more so like you.

One argument is that no matter when you vote the outcome would be the same because McCain already has a majority and >50 is >50 no matter what order they are counted.

Unfortunately, that completely ignores the influence earlier primary results have on voters in later primaries and, more importantly, on the focus of incessant media coverage. Essentially, voters in New Hampshire and Iowa have a much higher influence on the national outcome than everyone else.

I agree with your idea of having all primaries on the same day just like the final.

I wish there were a better way to get the positions of all the candidates on a dozen major issues equally disseminated to the public. The networks dropped Thompson and Huck as soon as they thought they had any momentum. They kept McCain in the race because he is the most liberal Republican in the race (or senate), and they love BHO because he is the most liberal dhimmi in the race (or the senate).

I always thought Louie was more of muse than anything else…but if IF Hussein wins and becomes POTUS he can always change Louie. I also wonder if he and Michele would live someplace called the “White” House, and if that is something else that will have to change.

Sorry about your vote Bash, I bet Hussein can change it if he’s elected.

Besides we can’t get dressed until Pat provides us with the female Jihadikiller line of clothing. For all of you out there who refuse to vote for McCain and would rather sit this one out, consider this: you have exactly TWO choices - 1) vote for the least of 3 evils or 2) overthrow the government and put someone in power you do like.

Option 2, although provided for in the 2nd Amendment, would destabilize the country during a time when stability is desperately needed.

Option 1, although distasteful, allows for a barely tolerable candidate to come to office. The burden of this choice is that you must ensure that the makeup of Congress is sufficiently favorable to keep the president in check.

The bottom line is that politicians need to be kept on a short leash by the voters every day of every year. Its not enough to get out on election day and push some levers or buttons. Politicians need to know that they are being watched and that they will be punished if they don’t do what you want and that they will be rewarded if they do good.

Bill tb…That’s a very good idea.

  23. KBoomr113

    1) A general primary day, which every state votes on the same day, is the worst possible way to pick a candidate. It could allow anyone who polls above 50% during that week to be the nominee. You could get a lot of whackos to be the nominee that way. Spacing it out over several months to allow the voters to get to know the candidates only makes sense. Its not my fault your state is close to last.

    2) The choice is between a quasi muslim marxist who has dedicated his life to his own self interest and a man who has spent the greater portion of his long life dedicated to serving his country, while being on the forefront of history through the greatest struggles our country has encountered during the last half century. I don’t agree with everything he’s said. I don’t agree with everything GWB or Reagan said. In fact, a real conservative has never completely agreed with any Republican president that existed. Do I believe McCain is an honorable and trust worthy man that will do what he thinks is right to protect and defend the United States and the Constitution in these dangerous times? You bet. I’d lay my life on it.

  24. azpatriot

How about we all just vote with bullets this time and see who’s really wanting to win when we are all voting that way. :gun: :gun: :gun: :gun: :gun: Hell we can even vote for everybody doing it that way

  25. JimC

I’m voting against the Democrat. McCain was not my first choice but a non vote for McCain is the same as voting *for* the Democrat. I sure hope Republicans don’t make a mistake and let Obama take the White House. What a frakin tragedy that would be! If you don’t like McCain, just think how much more you don’t like Obamawan Kenobi….and then make your mark for McCain…..

  26. mike3481

THERE’S ONE JIHADIKILLER LEFT IN THE RACE FOR POTUS.

McCAIN’S NOT MY CHOICE EITHER…NOT EVEN CLOSE…BUT HE WILL KILL THESE FUCKS AND KILL’EM GOOD. :gun: :gun: :gun:

  27. TBinSTL (just typical)

I’ve read one proposal that might work.

Three groups of states are set up with a mix of big and small states in each group adding up to an equal number of delegates per group. These three groups hold their nomination vote in one of 3 months and the groups rotate the order so that every 12 years each group and thereby state will have a chance to be among the first group.

After three complete cycles the groups can be shuffled if demographic changes require to keep delegate counts even. With a proper mix of large and small states in each group, the final decision will not be written in stone until the last group has voted barring drop outs by the candidates.

  28. Gary in Midwest

I was in the same boat. Fred Thompson had dropped out before our primary but I voted for him anyway. I was determined to write him in if he wouldn’t have been on the ballot. But in light of Thompson’s recent comments about McCain’s Supreme court choices I feel better about pulling the lever for him.

  29. T-Bagg

    Sandy,
“Besides we can’t get dressed until Pat provides us with the female Jihadikiller line of clothing. Hmmm… My imagination runs rampant.

#1 rated military blog. I would like to take a tiny bit of credit for that as I tell just about any one who will listen about this site. It’s usually Bash’s videos that reel ‘em in, then it’s the content that keeps them coming back.
