Two Iraqi Journalists Murdered
Gee … And here, according to certain anti-war celebrities and others, it’s OUR troops ‘targeting’ journalists in Iraq. I read the story … Doesn’t really fit our guys’ MO …
Just because you put “Without Borders” in your title doesn’t mean you are immune to the real world. And if the bad guys murder you, it is NOT the result or fault of the US Military.
As a matter of fact, if any journalists have been killed or injured (temporarily or permanently) as a result of our military just remember, YOU chose to enter a war zone … battlefield or perimeter … and knew the risks involved. Your choice. You took the risk. The war, and the enemy, ain’t gonna halt just because you are in the area. And neither are our troops …
Right, Dollard?
Mainly, I am addressing our ‘Western” journalists who find themselves surprised and shocked that war is … dangerous and deadly.
International Press Freedom Org. Condemns Death Of Two Iraqi Journalists …
PARIS - (KUNA) — An international press freedom organization expressed here Thursday its sorrow over the murder of two more journalists in separate incidents in Iraq over the past two days.
Reporters Without Borders said in a statement that it is “saddened” over the death of Wissam Ali Ouda and Haidar Hashem Al-Husseini in Baghdad and the central province of Diyala in the past two days.
This brings the number of journalists killed in Iraq since the start of the year to seven, and the overall media death toll since the start of the 2003 war to 215.
The Organization said that “Journalists will continue to die until the Iraqi authorities make a much greater effort to put an end to the impunity enjoyed by the perpetrators and instigators of these killings.” It stressed, “Those who target journalists must be arrested and punished severely,” adding that many journalists have been “forced to flee” the country while those who have stayed “risk their lives every day.” The press freedom organisation expressed its “fear” that the law on the protection of journalists recently presented by the government “falls far short of what is needed.” The body of Husseini, 36, who had reported for the independent daily Al-Sharq for nearly three years, was found yesterday in Diyala province, 60 km northeast of Baghdad. He was kidnapped the previous morning.
Meanwhile, Ouda, a 32-year-old cameraman with Afaq TV, was shot by a sniper as he was returning to his home in Baghdad.
Jihadis could care less about “press credentials”. As far as they’re concerned an unarmed press worker is just another easy target.
If you choose to report from a warzone you take your chances. Bullets and bombs don’t read credentials before they strike. They are equal opportunity killers.
The jihadis on the other hand are only doing Allah’s will. Inshallah don’t you know.
