VATICAN CITY (AP) - The Vatican’s chief astronomer says that believing in aliens does not contradict faith in God.

The Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes, the Jesuit director of the Vatican Observatory, says that the vastness of the universe means it is possible there could be other forms of life outside Earth, even intelligent ones.

In an interview published Tuesday by Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano, Funes says that such a notion “doesn’t contradict our faith” because aliens would still be God’s creatures.

The interview was headlined “The extraterrestrial is my brother.” Funes said that ruling out the existence of aliens would be like “putting limits” on God’s creative freedom.

I can’t argue with Funes on that. Considering that people have so much trouble understanding what the Bible does say, trying to interpret what it doesn’t say is problematic at best.

Umm…Wouldn’t God be properly classified as an extraterrestrial?

Why do we look into space and call it “the Heavens?”

If you were standing on Neptune, would you claim that there was no God there?

I may become unrelativist moralist from now

I have thought about that question for years and always came to the conclusion that other life forms could still exist and be created by God as we were. might be considered kinda crazy to believe that the people on earth are all that is out there. but i have never seen a UFO, so im not sure

Yeah, it’s OK to believe in the existence of aliens all right. Problem is lots of kooks actually idolize them.

We have a Savior. That’s all I need to say.

The Roman Catholic church also once believed the world was flat

My cousin had a theory …

The so-called “aliens” from space are the minions of Lucifer, thrown out of “Heaven” at the same time by Michael The Archangel.

    Untrue.

St.Thomas Aquinas stated that the earth is round in his Summa. Furthermore, he stated it as if it was an obvious fact. And this in the so called “Dark Ages.”

Just another myth put out by Catholic-bashers such as yourself. For the truth, read
