My guesses;

1. So we’ll realize that no matter how F’d your life is , someone, somewhere is worse off than you.

2. It’s a human interest story that you’ll see nowhere else and it generates clicks, that will earn money for the website.

PS - 007, the two holes in the bottom of his torso / body…on his right is for urine which he normally has a “urine bag” connected to and the one on his left is for feces which is plugged and his colon is emptied daily or every other day depending on how much lower intestine/colon he has.
