I just returned from a McCain fundraiser luncheon in Baton Rouge. The food was of the standard hotel cardboard variety. Former Gov. Roemer was the host. An army chaplain led us in prayer and the pledge of allegiance. Jindal gave a very brief intro then it was time for McCain. His speech was very canned except when he talked about the defining role of a president today, The Global War on Fundamentalist Islamic Terror. I know, I know it is the PC form of calling it what it is. He mentioned this more than anything else. He said that his Lance Corporal son had just returned from Anbar and tells him about the dramatic turnaround from a firsthand experience.

He also talked about rebuilding the barrier islands off of Louisiana and the levee systems as a priority, but I know that this was pandering to what he thinks the locals want. Most here could give a shit less about New Orleans.

I'm a rookie in the political game and this was the first event I ever attended. However, things as they are, there is no way in hell I cannot contribute in anyway that I can.

Obama has no clue at all, except whatever script he has memorized. He cannot answer questions and I am certain that he will never accept the 10 townhall meeting tour that McCain has formally requested of him.

And NO he did not annouce Jindal as his running mate. I had a number of people involved in a Pipeline safety seminar who asked me this when I went outside for a smoke. Apparently these federal government workers are all on the McCain bandwagon. Most are ex military anyway. Two wanted me to go get them out of the seminars (where they were speaking) if announced Jindal. The all wanted Jindal in the No. 2 spot.

McCain will embarrass Obama in a real debate. I hope the formats of the debate will allow for this... I suspect the format of any debate will be a major issue for the Obama campaign.

I used to believe the only thing Bambi had going for him was oratorial style in front of a teleprompter. After listening to him last night and then today at AIPAC, I think that he's faltering there as well. Just seemed 'loud' and not substantive. Might just have been the ass-kissing he was giving Hilda though.
I really don't see Bambi accepting the townhall debate scheme either. Not his forte' if the audience hasn't been 100% vetted by his staff.
