Yah, Aidid and his warlords were not the nicest lot but they were not fuck all crazy moslems either. He had a great way of dealing with radical muslim inmans, he had his mates drag em out in the middle of the night and hung em from lightposts. That was supposed to have happen before I was deployed there but from seing how he rolled I don’t doubt it for a second.
He didn’t want to play ball with the spooks thou, so we get involved in some humanitarian mission that the paki’s and other UN forces had under control. We were not there to feed the starving Somoli, we were there to play rough with the locals, dont buy into the bullshit. So we start round up and getting all macho with all the “bad” skinies and make nice with all the “good” skinies.
At the end of the day all the strong factions we took out or weakend, because they didn’t need to play ball with us or want to be our bitches. All the pissant no-name clans who were willing to roll over or wanted to suck Uncle Sams dick and can barely handle there own affairs (let alone deal with the Islamic Courts) are all that is left…
Thank the Clinton administration for it. Soon as that clustefuck raid on Oct 3 hit the media he couldn’t back out of that mess quick enough. Soon as some backwater yokals stood up and fought like they had a pair he yanked the plug. We should have continued to kick there asses and squared that place away, but no, we ran off with our shit between our legs.
Good cats died because Clintoon wasnt smart enough to handle those Warlords the right way (just buy the fuckers off) instead they decided to play rough with men who were tougher than he was. Those warlords are like gangsters, they have reputations that can make or break them and define who they are… No way they were going to roll over like bitches.
So the Skinies fought us, they didnt do it particuarly well, but they would come out in the streets and throw down, not like those pissant fuckers in Iraq and Stan blowing folks up while hidin like bitches. Soon as CNN had that skinnie out there with his AK blazing away down the street at a Army Ranger it was all over for that prom date.
Anyway, don’t blame the Somolians for this Islamic Courts mess, that one is 100% our fucking fault.
If we had left it alone it would not be coming to pass now, because even when the old man died someone with some sack would have rose to the top of the resulting bloodbath and sorted that shit out.
If we had just crushed those warlords with our wallet instead of trying to get all macho when the powers that be didnt have the grit to finish it it might have ended up better for everyone, too. That way no one has to die.
The worse part is not only did they get some of my mates killed there we didnt finish the fucking job. Nothing like some fucked up adulterating prick president pissing away the sacrifice of men whose boots he isnt even fit to lick…
