"People are going to go berserk when they find out that all along we had the capacity, within our own borders, to alleviate our dependency in an environmentally friendly way."

And the demedia is doing everything in their power to make sure people don't find out.

The main reason why we are in the position we are regarding oil prices is Congress and their irrational behavior. And Bill Klinton for refusing to drill in Anwar 10 years ago.

Our domestic drilling capacity used to be what Saudi's capacity is. Now it has been reduced to less than 5 million barrels. WTF?

If we don't throw out that irrational childish Congress soon, we're going to be paying 6 bucks for gas and continue depending on foreign oil.

We need a Manhatten Project on domestic power sources to get away from foreign oil. We don't need dimwitted solutions provided by small brained tards like Pelosi and Reid or Gore.

 Drill

This is the first time I must disagree with part of your assessment.

There is nothing "cheap" about the "gas" Congress is producing. Them eating at the public trough probably costs each of us more than we can ever dream.

And everybody knows for them to spew their garbage out, there's a whole lot of garbage in...

I've always said the first thing Americans should demand, before we manage the inflation rate, drill, or even vote is force our feckless Congress to live by the same set of rules the rest of us do. And why the bleating sheep of America don't is beyond me.

 Dan (The Infidel)

We shouldn't have to 'throw out' the Congress ...

THEY should be forced to do what their stated purpose is in the Constitution ... To do OUR bidding.

They are not, and have not ... and this is where we are now.

We stopped the Shamnesty Bill ... We can, if enough people are INFORMED of these facts, force Congress to do what WE want done in this country.

We need to FORCE these idiots in there right now to do their friggin' jobs.

I am now officially sickened. We have more oil in oil shale than the entire world does in any other type and we are not pulling the shit out yet. I swear i feel like i am stuck in the twilight zone sometimes.

Take the year 2008 and subtract 50 years and this congress would be carted out and thrown on their collective asses by the people themselves. but people these days do not care enough to be informed, they would rather let John Stewart or Dan Abrams think for them. We see food prices rising by an average of 20% everytime they do go up and not to mention anything else that is moved by plane, train or automobile and its all because of gas prices. Do something Congress or get the hell out of the way and let others who are way more competent fix this mess.

From the SFGate came this article on the proposed expansion of the Chevron Richmond CA refinery.
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/06/06/BACO114MDA.DTL

I checked the Asian Pacific Environmental Network and was not surprised to find it is a far left(socialist)organization hell bent on destroying the US.
So even if we do drill and drill what do you do with all the oil when it cannot be processed? When oil on the world market is at 200/barrel how do you price control it here w/o turning it into a socialized industry controlled by the government? The only way to control oil prices on the world market is to dump masses of oil in it to drive prices down. That is to say if oil is not being inflated by investors such as Soros.

Dems in Congress need to be tagged by the lame GOP congressional leadership for the fact gas has gone up $1.50 per gallon since they took over in 2006. Also, even Jimmy C. was advocating oil shale production in the 70's when he was Pres. and the dems and their commie turned environmental extremists blocked the efforts.
