U.S. Warns Russia On Nuclear Bombers In Cuba

Ya know, if I were a paranoid guy I’d be thinking this:

I don’t like Russia talking to Iran who is talking to Venezuela who is talking to Cuba.

I don’t like it.

If I were a paranoid guy, I’d be thinking that the Russians are supplying Iran with secret nuke stuff and in return the Iranians are supplying the Russians with oil. Then the Iranians are supplying the Venezuelans with nuke stuff, and the Russians are selling arms to the Venezuelans to get into the hands of groups like FARC and Hezbollah because Nation vs Nation fighting isn’t all too smart of a strategy if the United States is your enemy.

Then Venezuela, armed with conventional weapons from Russia and nuclear weapons from Iran, supplies numerous groups of terrorists like FARC and Hezbollah etc etc…

Then I would be thinking that all of these terrorists would be making their way up into the United States via our porous southern border and after a few years of this, the attacks begin in earnest and just when we have our hands full with Afghanistan and Pakistan we got problems at home and Cuba allows Venezuela, Iran, and The Russians to use their soil as a staging area to mount a full scale attack, complete with nukes to rid the world of America forever.

This just after all these terrorists unleash the low-level nukes and other such-type attacks here on our soil.

That’s what I would be thinking if I were a paranoid guy.

But I’m not…

Interesting article here…

Russia would cross “a red line for the United States of America” if it were to base nuclear capable bombers in Cuba, a top US air force officer warned on Tuesday.

“If they did I think we should stand strong and indicate that is something that crosses a threshold, crosses a red line for the United States of America,” said General Norton Schwartz, nominated to be the air force’s chief of staff.

He was referring to a Russian news report that said the military is thinking of flying long-range bombers to Cuba on a regular basis.

It was unclear from the report whether that would involve permanent basing of nuclear bombers in Cuba, or just use of the island as a refueling stop.

In his confirmation hearing to become the air force’s chief of staff, Schwartz was asked what he would recommend if Russia were to base nuclear capable bombers in Cuba.

“I would certainly offer the best military advice that we engage the Russians not to pursue that approach,” he said.

The newspaper Iszvestia on Monday cited an unnamed senior Russian air force official in Moscow as saying that Russia may start regular flights by long-range bombers to Cuba in response to US plans to install a missile defense system in eastern Europe.

A White House spokeswoman declined to comment on the Russian report because there had been no “official response from the Russian government.”

Conducting long-range bomber patrol to Cuba would signal a reawakening of military cooperation by former Cold War allies Moscow and Havana, and recall the 1962 missile crisis that brought Washington and Moscow to the brink of war.

Over the past year, Russia already has revived long-range strategic bomber patrols in the Pacific and north Atlantic.

The Russian moves come amid rising tensions over the US missile defense plans, and warnings by Moscow that it will be forced them to counter them militarily.

Until now, US officials have shrugged off the stepped up Russian military activity, while insisting that a radar in the Czech Republic and 10 missile interceptors it plans to install in Poland pose no threat to Russia.

White House press secretary Dana Perino recalled assurances US President George W. Bush offered Russian President Dmitry Medvedev two weeks ago at a G8 summit.

“The president repeated that our missile defense system should not be seen as a threat to Russia, we want to actually work with the Russians to design a system that Russia, and Europe and the United States could work on together as equal partners and we’ll continue to do that,” she said.

“We seek strategic cooperation with the Russians. We want to work with them on preventing missiles from rogue nations like Iran from threatening our friends and allies,” said Perino.

But Medvedev has warned that the missile defense project worsens regional security and will force Moscow to consider counter-measures.

Bash your thoughts are very plausible. i mean it could easily happen. scary shit really because we have a congress and a public that basically cannot stomach any type of conflict. we would be fighting an axis power rival to WW2 except with more deadly weapons if this scenario were to happen

  2. Paslode

I would call your concerns realistic, not paranoid. Putin is slime and cannot be trusted.

  3. sully

Being paranoid doesn’t mean they DON’T want to kill you.

  4. Rob

I’d say you’re paranoid. I mean why give it to Iran when you can give it straight to the terrorists and cut out the middle man. I mean the US can’t investigate the attack if the US is destroyed right?

  5. TBinSTL (Just Typical)

The Iran and Russia oil part isn’t so likely since Russia has plenty of that. The oil is going to the Chinese but Russia just wants to be a “power player” again and they are willing to support anybody they see as “taking us down a notch”. Russia likes the high oil prices because they are extorting Europe with it. Val at Babbalu Blog seems to expect Cuba to return to the focus as Russia’s closest ally to the US, besides the Congress.

Are the Russians anticipating An Obama Presidency and all the SHIT they will be able to get away with only because a PUSSY is POTUS?

  7. A. S. Wise-VA (America, FUCK YEAH!!!)

What are they trying to do, make another damned nuclear crisis in Cuba?!

  8. skip1

During the week & on 9/11 Ivan was conducting nuclear bomber exercises in the N. Atlantic & Arctic Circle. These bombers had extended fuel tanks. Don’t know if nuked armed. But what if Al-Qaeda was successful & took out the Capital building, Whitehouse…the political leadership…that’s decapitation…prelude to a nuclear first strike…yup I am paranoid too.

Never thought of it that way…Yup Obama is a pussy. I’ll never think of him any other way. Thanks…

    Just invade Cuba - Now.
    Make it an American territory.
Would probably take a week or two.
One carrier group could do it.
Then let Chavez know he’s next.

I’d say it’s more likely a ploy so that Russia can use the removal of the bombers, or the removal of the prospect of the bombers as a bargaining chip in return for diplomatic concessions in another area. An area such as the placement of a anti-missile shield station near Russia that Russia keeps bitching about.

Why would Russia not try it? It makes their leadership look stronger back home and increases the appearance of Russia as a powerful world force again. Besides, the last time the Reds pulled this shit with nukes on Cuba it got the US nukes out of Turkey.

For years I have considered that Russia (Putin) is supplying anybody we consider a problem child (Iran, Venezuela, etc…) with equipment and supplies that will keep the USA occupied elsewhere where we are not watching Russia (Putin) very closely-then when the time is right (like real soon-Obama) they can make a real move towards recovering their “glory” and “put us in our place”.

Just because you are paranoid does not mean that they are not out to get you…
