Ahmadinejad Welcomes Idea Of U.S. Office In Tehran
I’ll just bet you do, Panama Red …
TEHRAN, Iran — Iranian state TV is quoting President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as saying Iran would welcome the idea of setting up a U.S. diplomatic office in Tehran.
Sunday’s report quotes the firebrand Iranian leader as saying he would consider an American request to set up an interests section in Iran. He says he “welcomes any move to expand ties.”
But Ahmadinejad says his government hasn’t received any official request for such an office.
Last month, U.S. officials floated the idea but no formal requests were made.
Iran has operated an interests section in Washington for years. But the U.S. hasn’t had any diplomatic presence in Tehran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution and hostage-taking at the U.S. Embassy there.

No doubt so he can recreate ‘79.
July 13th, 2008 at 9:57 amLet’s do it. Instead of staffing it with desk jockies and diplomats, let’s staff it with elite spec ops because it’s always good to be prepared.

July 13th, 2008 at 5:12 pmI say we open the office, and allow Obama to run it and have unconditional negotiations….until 1979 repeats itself. And even then, we’d be divided on whether we actually want him back…..after all, he’ll be back with his Muslim brothers.

I nominate John Murtha and Dick Durbin as resident straw bosses. Be sure to paint a big, red bullseye on the roof. Consider it ground zero.
