Boehner: Reid & Pelosi Are Standing Against What Americans Want

I honestly believe Reid & Pelosi are the worst “leaders” (Hell, I can’t even call them that) that this country has ever seen.

“The president of the United States, with gas at $4 a gallon because of his failed energy policies, is now trying to say that is because I couldn’t drill offshore,” Pelosi said in an interview. “That is not the cause, and I am not going to let him get away with it.”

Her voice carries considerable weight since, as speaker, Pelosi is in a position to prevent a vote on expanded drilling from reaching the floor

And she and Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the majority leader, appear intent on holding the line against calls to approve drilling in areas now off limits. They mount the counterargument that the oil and gas industry is not aggressively exploring large expanses it has already leased on land and offshore. They also have urged Bush to pour some fuel from national reserves into the commercial supply chain in an effort to lower prices.

Trying to demonstrate that Democrats are not opposed to drilling in acceptable locales, the House is scheduled to vote on Thursday on a proposal that would deny oil companies any new leases unless they can show they are diligently exploring existing holdings. It would also require annual lease sales from lands in Alaska set aside as a National Petroleum Reserve, and directs the Interior Department to make sure a pipeline is linked to the reserves. Democrats, not subtly, are calling the measure the Drill Responsibly in Leased Lands, or Drill, Act. In the Senate, Democrats are pushing a measure to curb speculation in oil markets.

But Representative John Boehner of Ohio, the Republican leader who is escorting a delegation to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge this weekend, said the Democratic approach was woefully insufficient. He said Pelosi, in insisting on preserving the drilling ban, was putting Democrats in the cross hairs of voters furious about gas prices.

“I think Speaker Pelosi is walking her Blue Dogs and other vulnerable Democrats off a cliff and they know it,” said Boehner, referring to the coalition of Democrats representing more conservative districts.

He accused the speaker of using procedural maneuvers to thwart votes on expanded drilling, a position he said would prevail if the moment arrived. “Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are standing in the way of what the American people want,” Boehner said.

Boehner makes me proud. and i wish i could sit back and say that watching the democrats walk themselves off a cliff is enough. but its really not. gas prices are hurting alot of people right now. there used to be poor seniors who had to choose whether they were going to eat dinner or get their life preserving medicine. I wonder what shape they are in now? and average Americans are feeling the pinch right now too. Pelosi gets free gas for her vehicle and jet so she doesnt feel our pain. we need to start drilling right now

Got into a family ‘discussion’ this week regarding my comfort with a violent removal of elements of our government. My son who was in Iraq when pelosi and reid was cheering on the enemy trying to kill him and his fellow troops. He noted a spike in violence following the presser with the democrat leadership urging on the enemy.

In the three months before April of 07 (jan, feb mar) when reid proclaimed the war was lost there were 238 US casualties. In the following three months there were 321 casualties.

And they want to kill us economically also.

So, when does the revolution start?

I heard someone on the radio (I think it was Prager) say: “This is one of the rare issues that congress can act on, with a result that will benefit EVERY SINGLE American.” I though that was a brilliant way of looking at this issue, and I cannot comprehend how the dems can completely ignore that fact. I mean, we conservatives are pretty much in the tank for embracing more “liberal” energy policies (wind, solar, biofuel)…why is it that the dems fail to make a compromise on a critical issue that will dictate the future economic status of America?

These two shitheads WILL NOT do anything to alienate their Code Pinko and Environazi base before the election. They are certain they will win the Congress and the POTUS.

The only alternative is for them to be thrown out on their asses in Nov. The GOP needs to be doing FAR more to see that happens. Write and/or call your Rep and Senators and the RNC and tell them to get off their own asses and boot them out.

There is so much oil off the coast of California it’s oozing up through the sand. It’ presents a disaster worse than any oil rig. The state is broke, and have the ability to become energy dependent, while selling off billions of dollars worth of excess oil. This state is being held hostage by envirowhackos, using 1969 data to defend their position.
