boy codepink is getting aggressive
July 17th, 2008 at 7:43 pmI hope one of those soldiers helped that parachutist with a quick jab to the face for injuring the Tuba player…I love the Tuba…
July 17th, 2008 at 7:52 pmAs an experienced sport jumper, that guy was a fucking idiot and if it had been my dropzone, he would have had his license pulled and told to never comeback.
It is one thing to have someone walk into your LZ, but that was just piss poor canopy piloting and should have never happened. Winds appear not to be an issue, the trees are motionless. I would actually be very interested to know what exactly he was trying to do…seems a little out of place to be landing there.

Piss poor is right. The fuckwit didn’t even flare.
July 17th, 2008 at 10:01 pmI saw this on my local news, he said that one of the things that allows him to turn got stuck and he couldn’t get it to turn away from the band.
July 18th, 2008 at 7:38 amTrue. I was talking to one of the soldier in the unit. The Parachutist broke I think his leg, and the Tuba players were both injured, but not seriously.

Thanks for the info. It sucks that anyone had to be injured in what was morst likely a very avaiodable situation.
That sounds a little iffy to me. I have heard of steering lines breaking, in which case you can turn using rear risers. I have heard of tension knots on opening, which usually necessitate a cut away, but I have never ever heard of a steering line getting stuck, especially not on final (well after you have opened and done a control check).
But I learned long ago that the seemingly unthinkable can and does happen in the sport, the jumpers story just sounds a bit sketchy to me.
