Deserter Puke Deported From Canada Now In U.S.
They said they’d do it…and they did. Thank you, O’ Canada!
They won’t disclose his whereabouts…gee, I wonder why, wouldn’t Code Pink and MoveOn.Org and the IVAW and VoteVets be welcoming him home with flowers and kisses?
VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Canada deported on Tuesday the first of some 200 Americans who deserted the U.S. military and sought refugee status to protest against the Iraq War.
Robin Long, 25, (aka fukn puke pussy/traitor) was removed a day after a Federal Court judge in Vancouver rejected his claim that he would suffer irreparable harm if returned to the United States. He fled across the border in 2005 as his army tank unit was preparing to deploy to Iraq.
The Canada Border Services Agency confirmed Long’s removal, but declined to give other details, citing privacy laws. Long’s refugee claim had already been rejected and he could not appeal Monday’s court ruling.
The issue of U.S. deserters has evoked memories of Canada’s acceptance of tens of thousands of draft dodgers and deserters during the Vietnam War. But it has also exposed a political split in the country — even within its courts — over what role it should play today.
Ottawa has deployed soldiers in Afghanistan but has refused to participate in the U.S.-led war in Iraq.
Long’s supporters staged a small demonstration on Tuesday at the Peace Arch border crossing south of Vancouver.
“We may be small, but we represent a large body of people who disagree with what happened,” said Sarah Bjorknas of the War Resisters Support Campaign.
Opponents of granting refugee status to deserters argue that, unlike during the Vietnam War, the United States does not now have a military draft and members of its military are volunteers who know the potential risks. <----Thank you, therein lies the difference, bitches! Well, one difference anyway. The worse thing is he swore an oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States and renegged on his fukn deal...asswipe traitor. ~Bash
Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s minority Conservative government has ignored a nonbinding motion passed by opposition parties in the House of Commons last month that would have allowed the Iraq deserters to stay.
Long and others have argued it was only after they had joined the military that they decided the U.S. government had lied to the public about the reasons for the Iraq War, and they were refusing to fight in an illegal conflict.
The Supreme Court of Canada refused last year to hear the appeals of two U.S. deserters whose applications for refugee status were turned down by immigration authorities.
But Federal Courts in Ontario this month temporarily blocked the removal of two deserters, including Joshua Key who the court said did not get a proper immigration hearing on his claim that the Iraq War was unjust.
Long’s supporters had argued he should not be deported until the conflicting court rulings were resolved.
It is unknown how many Iraq War deserters have moved to Canada, but peace groups have said they know of about 200 people seeking refugee status. It is estimated that more than 50,000 war resisters moved to Canada during the Vietnam era.
Long fled to Nelson, British Columbia, an area of the Pacific Coast province where many Vietnam War resisters decided to remain even after Washington granted amnesty in 1977.

MUAHAHAHA
July 16th, 2008 at 7:23 amCan someone be tried in a military court for treason? If so they should add it to this coward’s deserter charge.
How is it that these fucking idiots decide AFTER they’ve joined the military that the war in Iraq is illegal? I have to wonder if they join up and then decide they don’t like the military life. The war is a convienient excuse for them to desert or refuse to honor their obligations.
July 16th, 2008 at 7:30 amPut him up against a wall and shoot him. End of story.
July 16th, 2008 at 8:02 amwhat kind of punishment is this guy facing now?
July 16th, 2008 at 8:08 amMolly, yes military members can be tried for treason, but not for something as simple as desertion. do not take me wrong, I proudly served 12 years, 6 in the Corps, 6 in the Army. Desertion is not simple, and I reported several of my Marines back when for desertion.
Yeah, they signed a contract, and this always reminds me of the reservists that sued, deserted, ran away what have you from the first Gulf War because they did not want to serve, they only joined for the college benefits. That still torques me. A contract is a contract. Our courts have held that up time and again. When pukes like this and the others think they can get away with “voiding” their legally binding contracts, just wait, we will need to start doing the same on business deals to liberals, where they are getting the short end. We just need to make sure we pick the ones that are supportive of deserters, to teach them a lesson.
July 16th, 2008 at 8:12 amWelcome home bitch. Now we are going to have us some fun.
July 16th, 2008 at 8:42 amBradW
to you for your service!
And thank you for the information.
I was thinking about a television program I saw on PBS profiling the servicemen and women on the USS Nimitz. There were some people who didn’t agree with the war but they were still there doing the job they signed up for. They managed to stick it out.
July 16th, 2008 at 8:45 amLock them in walter reed, with signs saying what they did
July 16th, 2008 at 8:48 amI trust that spitting on and throwing feces at this queer is patriotic?
July 16th, 2008 at 9:15 amFortunately for us and him a Courts Martial under the UCMJ is a lot more fair than a regular criminal court. There won’t be any judiciary activism landing him a slap on the wrist just because the media will be interested in dragging everyone but this shitbird through the mud.
Though personally I think they should strip him to private and force him to serve out the rest of his contract as a human mine detector before sending him to make big rocks into smaller rocks for the rest of his adult life.
The cure for treasonous cowardice involves high speed trepanation.
July 16th, 2008 at 9:16 amMolly,
Most welcome for the info, but no thanks needed for the service. It was a true honor, got to meet some wonderful people. Met the SgtMaj of the British royal Marines. At age 65 still active duty, he was one hard core SOB, impressive as all get out!
Most guys that get processed for desertion get reduced in grade to Private, E1, confinement to a brig for a period of tim, forfeiture of all pay during confinement, and then get the Big Chicken Dinner (Bad Conduct Discharge, or BCD). Desertion to avoid movement (avoid combat) can bring much stiffer penalties, longer incarceration, and usually ends in a Dishonorable Discharge. In most states a DD includes have a wrap sheet as a felon… but that is in most cases cleared by the “aggrieved” writing a letter to their senator, congressperson stating how the world is against them, and since the miliatry made them a felon, they can’t vote or get a job.
The elected official then does their spineless act, and gets the felony removed…
And yeah, the USS Nimitz show is good, have seen it twice so far. Usually when too tired from working on the house…
I really give credit to the Squids, back at that age I really enjoyed drinking, could never stand the thought of going 6 months or so without a few drinks too many, and being surrounded by so much water and not being able to fish
I didn’t agree with clinton being CinC, so when I had the chance, I got out, and never re-upped again. That is how you act honrably, you fulfill your contracts, do your time, and let you feet or your vote do the talking…
The guys and ladies serving in uniform today are some of the greatest people in the country. I respect the heck out of them, and if I wasn’t so greedy as to want to see my son grow up, I would have re-upped on 9/12.
My son was born 9/15/01… I want to be around Cleveland to see he is raised right, not the way the liberal sycophants want to raise a bunch of government dependents.

Completely understandable. I most likely will end up going reserves or get out altogether when I have a family. War is mostly an uncommitted job. I mean my dad flew in the Navy and died in ‘92, and I don’t want to put my kids in that situation.
July 16th, 2008 at 1:54 pmAnd to think he’ll have to put on his uniform again when he is in court. Kind of makes me sick.
July 16th, 2008 at 3:06 pmAt least 20 years as far as I am concerned.
Death, not a bad option!
We had a couple of guys desert from Boot camp at MCRD San Diego, They were caught, put in Correctional Custody Platoon, chained and shackled and went out and did hard labor until, their court martial. Those guys suffered and deserved it!
July 16th, 2008 at 4:04 pmBlanket Party!!!!
Does anyone need an explanation of what that is?
July 16th, 2008 at 6:02 pmThank God my country got this one right and kicked his ass back where he belonged, to take responsibility for his despicable actions. I hope the rest of them up here are soon to follow - we have enough limp-wristed USA haters up here already without adding to the population
July 16th, 2008 at 8:14 pmBlanket Party then 20 years with Bubba at Leavenworth. Hanging is also a good option.
And HAHAHA freking puke didn’t get away with running away from his VOLUNTARY contract as easy as he thought he would.
Way to go Canada. Yah did good. Aboot time eh?
July 17th, 2008 at 4:08 amMarcStockwell,
very likely the only uniform he will be allowed t owear will be BDUs, the guys I saw prosecuted were given a bootcamp buzz when returned to base, and allowed only BDUs, so as to not dishonor those serving with pride who wear the dress uniform.
Yeah it is crappy that they get to wear a uniform at all, a prison jumpsuit is all they deserve.
The best thing is that haircut they get ,
I remember how pathetic we all looked back in 84 that first day in basic when we lost our hair.
I notice that almost all deserters grow their hair long, a throwback to the hippies of the 60s? And they seem so proud of their lovely locks, so the buzz cut does a great job of serving a huge helping of humble pie
