Surge In Iraq Nears An End
The U.S. military has begun withdrawing the last of the extra brigades that were deployed to the country in 2007 as part of the surge.
The U.S. military had 20 combat brigades in Iraq at its peak in 2007, with troop levels approaching 170,000. That number will fall to about 140,000 once the final “surge” brigade departs.
On a personal note - This is one American who never thought Iraq was a mistake. Fuck the media.
ditto lft! this is a seed being planted and this will take time to bear fruit. rather than put a band-aide on the situation, bush has gone after the problem areas. heres just hoping he eliminates iran as a problem before he leaves office.
