Reports: General David Petraeus On McCain’s Short List For VP
About 5 minutes ago (12:30 PM PST) Fox News stated that insiders are reporting that General David Petraeus, the great architect of the Victorious Surge in Iraq, is on the short list of John McCain’s choice for Vice President.
I don’t know, I think Petraeus would serve our country best at his new post as head of CENTCOM, but one never knows. Add that to the fact that the polls are so close between McCain and Hussein, that the group that must be wooed right now are the Independents and Undecideds, a military man might not be their favorite pick.
But he would certainly be mine. McCain/Petraeus ‘08…I like the sound of that.
It would put the Fear of God into America’s enemies, I’ll tell ya that shit right fukn now.
To back up this claim they ran a clip from the Saddleback Forum from last week, which Louie has now dubbed Obama’s Brokeback Forum…
could you imagine that ticket? McCain and Patraeus. wow that would change the game up. it would rally the base for sure but it looks like we need more than just the base and an Obama presidency is unacceptable. i would love to see that though
August 22nd, 2008 at 11:42 amShoot, they would win in a landslide. How exciting. And then, Petraus could run in 2012. Wow, what a fantasy. He is the definition of a visionary leader.
August 22nd, 2008 at 12:10 pmOh that would be sweet. Just think, he would be president of the US senate. How would the democrats like that?
August 22nd, 2008 at 12:14 pmHe’s a good pick for the country, and a good pick for vice president. Trust in the American people to make the right choice. I would certainly hate that they go with some liberal leaning VP just to try and get the vote.
Remember, Reagan was about as hardline a conservative as you can get….he didn’t win over moderates by leaning left. He won over the middle ground, by sticking to his guns, and and standing for what he beleived….he didn’t choose Bush to be VP to “win” over democrats.
August 22nd, 2008 at 12:15 pmNetroots would scream of fascism and dictatorship–but I agree–he’s in the best spot for ‘the man’ right now. A VP nod doesn’t make sense though. He’d have to retire real quick to make November…and that speculation just doesn’t add up.
August 22nd, 2008 at 12:19 pmSmoke and mirrors, ain’t gonna happen. Good for discussion over a few brewski’s but that is all in is. Cannon fodder for the socialist, communist fuck heads on the left.
August 22nd, 2008 at 12:21 pmThen, out of the darkness, steps Fred Thompson………
Well, we’re dreaming here aren’t we? Mac will play it safe because Rs never have a lead in MSM polls, even a small one, this far from election day. I’m expecting a landslide that will shock everyone else if Mac just manages to avoid any huge screwup like picking a pro-infanticide veep.
August 22nd, 2008 at 12:43 pmHow accurate do we think that AOL straw poll is we see pop up here every now and again?
August 22nd, 2008 at 1:31 pmOh, if this were only true….
Imagine the possibilities: Gen. Petraeus as VP, and then Petraeus for President with Bobby Jindael as his VP….
I think it’s time for pizza and
August 22nd, 2008 at 1:38 pmNot a realistic choice for McCain. Petraeus doesn’t seem to have enough domestic policy experience.
August 22nd, 2008 at 2:43 pmIt would be nice, but ain’t gonna happen for the reasons many of you have already explained. Plus, he’s so good I don’t want anyone else in charge of CentCom right now.
August 22nd, 2008 at 3:28 pmI wish. I wish. I wish.
August 22nd, 2008 at 4:10 pmtoo soon, no disrespect, would like to see what he will do in control of centcom and beyond. Win the war on terror then run him just like ike…no pun intended (if that was a pun).
August 22nd, 2008 at 5:04 pmThat would be cool! I love it. I don’t think it is going to happen though. I also agree with Ranger that I would be much more comfortable with General Petraeus staying in charge of CentCom especially with the way the world is at this very moment all over the freakin’ place. I feel safer with him in charge of all that.
August 22nd, 2008 at 5:07 pmI’m gonna go out on a limb and say a general would be a better man to work on domestic policy then a trial lawyer.
Eisenhower II would make me a happy camper.
August 22nd, 2008 at 6:07 pmBad decision if true.
August 22nd, 2008 at 7:48 pmGerman dragon, I was thinking the same thing, then Bobby Jindael Pres. and the Gov of alaska VP(can’t remember her name at the moment)
