Using of the “Glory” to portray views as if they were held in ‘consensus’ …
The waving of “the colors” in mass as if it is solely owned …So much political fodder.
And when all is said and done … and the lights go down, the cameras are turned off, and the party dispenses with the awashed feeling of a well spoiled child late on Christmas Day …Nothing is left sacred.

I’m a stickler for the proper handling of the American flag, but as far as I know there is no written protocol for the disposal of paper flags.
Flags made from long-lasting fabrics (such as cotton or rayon) that are no longer serviceable are, preferably, to be respectfully burned.
Veterans groups and even the Boy Scouts willingly dispose of non-serviceable flags.
