Developing - ABC’s Selective Editing Of The Palin Inquisition?

Several of the blogs I visit are reporting an ‘edit’ of the mis-quote alert Gov. Palin gave Gibson in their interview. Also, I went over to our friendly youtube to look for the west coast version of the exchange with the edit … didn’t see it up yet. But I’ll tell you what … P.D.S. is strong and very ugly on the left.

A Work in Progress?

Kathryn Jean Lopez - (NRO)

Another e-mail:
Hi Kathryn,

Just caught the Palin interview on the West Coast. Some observations:

1) Gibson was acting like he was giving her a pop quiz.

2) The exchange about the “holy war”. I’ve read transcripts somewhere that contain this:
—-
a) GIBSON: You said recently, in your old church, “Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God.” Are we fighting a holy war?

b) PALIN: You know, I don’t know if that was my exact quote.

c) GIBSON: Exact words
—-
The version that I saw on the West Coast does NOT have (b) and (c) above. Also, they showed a YouTube clip with the longer, more complete version of her statement. Did all the complaining about how he quoted her out of context make them edit the version shown on the West Coast, to make it more fair? Did anybody see (b) and (c) above on the East Coast?

Ace Of Spades notes:

Either way, it’s ABCNews editing out Palin’s correct objection that those aren’t her “exact words,” and Gibson’s cocksure insistence they are indeed her “exact words.”He confirms: Nope, edited out of the East Coast feed too.

So this means that ABCNews covered up its error on both coasts, and deleted Palin’s statement that they’d erred for the whole country.

ABCNews knew of this error since the first transcript was released at 4 ET. Not only did they get numerous objections, but I’m guessing it’s very likely that Palin’s people informed them of the error, too.

Actually, Dollardites, if you re-watch the clip Pat posted in videos, the exchange is there …

This is a pretty serious issue no doubt, but for some reason it reminds me of listening to Lead Zeppelin “stairway to heaven” backwards :) Whats that, did Gibson just say “Satan is master” backwards at quarter speed? It’s sad that we have to scrutinize our media so closely…

Charlie, with all that you’ve seen in the last 7 years are you saying that you DON’T believe in good and evil.

I ask because the public deserves to understand the premise from which you are asking these questions.

    For example;

    1. Is flying Airliners into buildings murdering thousands of innocent people good or evil?

    2. Is beheading prisoners good or evil?

    3. Is producing and distributing false propaganda advocating the defeat of your country’s military for the sole purpose of political gain good or evil?

    4. Between 1992 and 2002 Saddam Hussein’s Dictatorship arrested, tortured and or raped, then murdered and dumped into one of hundreds of mass graves over 300,000 innocent Iraqi civilians, is that good or evil?
    ……………………………

You see Charlie, the world really isn’t a gray area, it’s actually quite well defined.

The only question is “which side of the line do you stand on”?

We’re waiting Charlie, America wants to know !

AOL started it’s new straw poll for the week of 9/11-9/18:

    http://news.aol.com/political-machine/straw-poll

Go let ‘em know what the people of America want!

  4. Bob

We are in a holy war. I wish she would have said it. But I guess she can’t. I wish she would not go on these left wing shows. She will learn pretty fast. When is Obama going on Sean Hannity?

  5. Rob

OMG. they DID edit it out  . Oh wait they didn’t? In fact they showed it on national TV? But that means the Libs are wrong, and they say they’re never wrong. :???:

  6. Phil Byler

The leftists who pass themselves off as “journalists” are very dishonest. No one should be surprised by the editing.

  7. trapper

way to go charlie,if you question what she said then you must think our country is evil. media, the more you talk, the more the light is shined on you cock roaches. SARA is the light and people are seeing who you are

A lib reporter mom went to a Palin rally on a lark, and came home shocked.

“Palin Power” isn’t just about making hockey moms feel important. It’s not just about giving abortion rights opponents their due. It’s also, in obscure ways, about making yearnings come true — deep, inchoate desires about respect and service, hierarchy and family that have somehow been successfully projected onto the figure of this unlikely woman and have stuck.

Haidt has conducted research in which liberals and conservatives were asked to project themselves into the minds of their opponents and answer questions about their moral reasoning. Conservatives, he said, prove quite adept at thinking like liberals, but liberals are consistently incapable of understanding the conservative point of view. “Liberals feel contempt for the conservative moral view, and that is very, very angering. Republicans are good at exploiting that anger,” he told me in a phone interview.

    selective editing = book burning

The press/media is no longer an asset to our nation in providing the truth to the population so that they may make an educated decision. The MSM has evolved into a domestic enemy of truth.
They have chosen a side, and if it comes to armed conflict, I would enjoy taking some of these lying bastards out.

  10. sierrahome

The left has no idea who they are dealing with in Sarah Palin, she is the real deal while Charlie and the rest of the MSM scramble to look pretty and sound smart.

  12. TO (twp)

I’m a little ticked off that McCain’s people do not have a preemptive agreement …to the effect….no editing..

  13. CymKnowlton

Ive made previous post concerning the importance not only of the presidential campaign but also the campaign for Congress.

    Well guess what?

    http://www.gallup.com/poll/110263/Battle-Congress-Suddenly-Looks-Competitive.aspx

Republican congressional candidates are pleading for local stops in their districts by the McCain/Palin team.

A 5 point lead among likely voters, this is almost as good as sex( with the woman you love of course)

Sarah Baracuda? How about Sarah Juggernaut?

  14. Jarhead68

As to the straw poll at AOL: McCain has maintained a solid 30 point lead for the past 2 months. Suddenly, it’s down to 20 points. This doesn’t make sense. McCain jumps up in the “scientific” polls but loses ground in this “grassroots” poll. I would have expected a bounce in both.

Secondly, I did not watch the Palin interview, as I made up my mind to vote for McCain months ago because the thought of voting for a socialist nimrod is anethema to me. We shouldn’t be at all suprised that ABC edited the interview to make her look as bad as possible.

  15. CPLViper

Sarah did great even with the communists editing the interview. I would, however, like to see the actual questions and answers, in full, unedited. Since Gibson seemed argumentative at certain points … I can connect the dots and those points are most likely from the end of the interview. You know, as his anger built that he was not able to shake her or make her slip.

And, just for the record, she did not say that the war is a “mission from God”. Her whole statement that that sound bite came from basically states that we should all pray that we are on God’s side and that the actions we are taking (fighting the war) and the decisions our leaders (Pres. Bush & Congress) are making to go to war are righteous in His eyes.

  16. CPLViper

    Jarhead68

The poll was broken for a few days, a lot of people probably forgot about it. You know the attention span in the US, it’s shorter than a mosquito’s dick.

  17. Jon

Oh, but it does make sense…..straw polls are anecdotal and easy to load with false data. Scientific polls use tried and true sampling methods. I don’t necessarily trust either very much. None of the pollsters predicted either of Reagan’s landslides.

ABC has no credibility as ‘journalism’.

  19. Barb

Charlie is an arrogant prick.

  20. Suncitypro

Who the hell is running for president anyway? The stupid ass demshits want to keep hitting on Palin and all they continue to do is lift her up. McCain should be grateful that she is fading his heat, and at the same time making the demshits look like the dumbassess that they are. If Barry is running this campaign as he says he is, then he doesn’t know shit about who to focus on in the campaign.
Keep it up demshits, and the RNC will have a landslide in Novemeber.

  21. Gary in Midwest

I would love to see Rush or Glenn Beck interview Charlie Gibson. You wouldn’t have to resort to creative editing to make him look like an ass.

  22. Happyone

To see the attempted evisceration of Gov. Palin by the media and lefties is truely breath-taking. I have seen 3 magazines with her on them, all slandering her. I have seen maybe 35 magazine covers with Obama on them, all fawning and cooing. Sick! Pam Anderson and Matt Damon–they completely disrespect her just because they don’t agree with her. Have you seen one prominent conservative on TV disrespecting Obama? I haven’t.

  23. righteous anger

BTW Charlie, you have got some sort of stain on your pretty tie, you ought to have it checked out for telltale bias DNA, or are you going to write a book later?

  24. Dan (The Infidel)

Charlie Gibson and his minions on the left all fall under the same catagory: DEZINFORMATSIA. Pay no attention to them.

From the shoe fits catagory: Here’s a leftist with an interesting observation: “And finally, Steve, a lot of press bashing at the convention. We are suddenly the enemy. Why is that?” —NBC’s Meredith Vieira to McCain campaign manager Steve Schmidt

    Well, duh.

  25. Charlie Xray

I wish to personally thank ABC for reminding me why I quit watching ABC, CBS, and NBC news four years ago.

    CX

  26. Wulf

What’s up with that camera angle? Afraid to show her face? Afraid her charisma will show? You need cheap theatrics to make Gibson seem more sincere and less like the mean spirited little man her appeared to me?

  27. mike3481

    3:30 P.T.

    McCain’s up in the AOL poll - 61% to Hussein’s 39%

    :gun:

  28. mom in wi

totally agree with Gary in the midwest. Charlie came across as an arrogant bastard.

  29. David Brown

Are we fighting a “Holy War”? C’mon Charlie, wake up. What were the 911 highjackers doing the morning of Sept 11th in their hotel rooms, who were they beseeching as they flew those planes into the WTC and the Pentagon? Who were they praising as they died in Shanksville? When the terrorists capture an Infidel, and they are about to behead him, what is written on the paper they read? A prayer, maybe? Who do they praise as they slice off the victim’s head? Is it a Holy War? Ask the Isalmic terrorists that question.
