Fred Thompson’s Awesome RNC Speech - Do Not Miss
What a stack of quotes. My favorite quote was:
“There are two questions we’ll never have to ask ourselves: Who is this man? And Can we trust him with out Presidency?”
My other favorite was (re:Palin):
She’s the only nominee in the history of either party that knows how to field dress a moose…”
This was met with wild applause but I immediately began thining of teddy Roosevelt (I shit you not) when he said:
“…with the possible of exception of Teddy Roosevelt.”
Here’s the great speech:
I was a big Fred fan when he was in the primaries, unfortunately he dropped out before I was able to vote for him. He had a great speech tonight AND he didn’t clear his throat after EVERY sentence which was an added bonus.
September 2nd, 2008 at 8:24 pmHe OWNED it.
September 2nd, 2008 at 8:31 pmGreat job, Fred! Fantastic speech.
September 2nd, 2008 at 8:42 pmAll good speaches tonight. I was hoping Fred would take a glass of water early on. I was searching that podium for a pitcher of water. He did good.
September 2nd, 2008 at 8:52 pmMy favorite line was in talking about McCain in the Hanoi Hilton and Thompson said “We hear a lot of talk about hope. John McCain knows about hope. That’s all he had to survive on.”
September 2nd, 2008 at 9:01 pmit was a great speech. i love when Fred gets fired up and think he would have sent fear through our enemies.
September 2nd, 2008 at 9:35 pmIf the MSM had bothered to cover him in the primaries you all would have seen more and better but “our wise masters” decided we were not allowed….
September 2nd, 2008 at 11:26 pmDammit, I’m gonna get started again.
maybe Fred for SECDEF…
September 3rd, 2008 at 1:09 amBest ever, I knew Fred had what it takes …
September 3rd, 2008 at 3:40 amI would love to see Fred in McCain’s cabinet. He has a way of cutting through the bullshit.
September 3rd, 2008 at 5:27 amOMG! Eulogy or endorsement?
Is it just me or did Fred Thompson refer to McCain so often in the past tense that it almost intimated he’s dead! Was this a eulogy or an endorsement speech? Has the nomination of Palin aided in telegraphing the parties sentiments of McCains campaign? It can only get more interseting from here.
September 3rd, 2008 at 5:54 amGreat speech — especially at the 19:00 to 24:20 mark, where he was ripping on Obama & the Dems’ proposals.
(Ex: “The respect (McCain) is given around the world is not because of a teleprompter speech designed to appeal to America’s critics abroad.” )
Also loved his analogy of the Dems’ tax proposals.
Thompson hit a home run here
September 3rd, 2008 at 5:56 amThompson was my favorite from the beginning. He’s still my favorite. I would love to see him in McCain’s cabinet. He speaks truth, he speaks plainly. SecDef or SecSta. Either one.
September 3rd, 2008 at 8:37 amMy personal preference would be, Supreme Court Justice Thompson.
September 3rd, 2008 at 9:21 amA. Look into the camera and speak to the people in the T.V audience every once in awhile. Remember that, although its a love fest in the room, the convention has loftier goals.
B. Clear your throat or drink some water please!
C. McCain’s truly sad story of being a POW, does not qualify him to be president and does not tell anything to the American people that we don’t already know. We know about his heroics. Tell us how he is going to change the Country!
Day 1 of speeches went of with a whimper. Day 2 is critical and needs to go off with a bang.
