Fueled By The Fallen - LBA On Assignment
I had the opportunity this weekend to attend Chandlers Watch Radio Show. Chandlers guest this week was Kevyn Major Howard from the movie “Full Metal Jacket”.
Kevyn’s taken on a new assignment as of late and is now founder of “Fueled By The Fallen”
From Kevyn’s web site:
Fueled by the Fallen is a non-profit organization developed to both honor and pay tribute to the United States Service Members who lost their lives fighting for the freedom of others. A moving monument, The Memorial Race Car Team has been created to epitomize their sacrifices. Funds will be raised in conjunction with the team and will be given to the families who have lost sons, daughters, husbands, and wives in the War on Terrorism. It is our mission to give back to the families of our fallen heroes and create awareness of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of freedom.
In addition, Fueled by the Fallen will focus on supporting organizations that address Post Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD) as well as family treament for proper re-integration of our Service Members back into society.
Also:
“We support our Troops by making appearances throughout America with the Memorial Race Car Road Tour. We display and perform to honor our fallen servicemen and women, and raise monies to help support the families of the fallen. If you have an event where you would like the Memorial Race Cars to make an appearance please visit our contact page and let us know!

Not only was it an honor for me to meet Kevyn and his sister, but it was heartwarming to see yet another way an American has gone out of his way, to not only support our troops but to also honor the memory of our fallen…in a very personal way.
I have to say the second I touched the names, I got choked up. Especially after hearing the story’s of a few of the Marines who’s names are on the memorial car.
If “Fueled By The Fallen” pulls into your area, I advise you to head on over to see the race cars, take a deep breath, and know our troops will never be forgotten.

Preparing families of those returning from deployment is fundamental. I see all to often families who just do not understand how to help their soldiers adjust back to being state side. They either push the issue or refuse to hear what needs to be shared by our returning troops. This is a program I would LOVE to get involved in and make a difference. Quite honestly as a mom of a fallen.. I don’t want money. I want people to support our troops and respect them. There is nothing more that can be done for my son.. but there is so much we can do for his brothers in arms!!
Having a HOOAH moment!

September 15th, 2008 at 3:36 pmDon’t cry for him. Just keep taking care of his brothers.
Knottie Thank you very much for your sacrifice. He will never be forgotten and you will always be in the prayers of those of us that have put on a uniform.
Fueled by the Fallen are just good people doing good work. The most amazing thing about Kevyn and his crew, to me, is that his only connection to the Marine Corps or the Troops is his role in “Full Metal Jacket”. Tommy and I wore the uniform and feel a duty to help our brothers.
God Bless these guys and Semper Fi!!
