Palin Disinvited From Iran Rally After Clinton Pulls Out
You know what … I’m going to say something here that you all might find surprising … and maybe even outwardly disagree with me on.
When I first heard about Palin, and even Clinton, attending this ‘rally’ a few days ago, before the “Clinton pulls out” commotion, I didn’t think it was such a good idea anyway.
You know what popped into my mind?
Hussein’s big speech in Berlin. And then, to a MUCH lesser degree, the revelation of his meeting behind the POTUS and Administration’s back(s) with officials in Iraq to try to influence them regarding troop withdrawals.
I know it’s a couple of different things. But the basic principle is still there.
While I know we stand fully behind Israel and the Jewish people especially against Iran’s threats and plans for her destruction and annihilation, Gov. Sarah Palin is not (yet) the VP of the USA. And she is involved in a political campaign … and one that seems to have been turned into a street theater all of its own by the MSM and [others]. She can say vocally that she supports these Jewish groups in their protest, but her physically being there could be seen as a reproach or insult that she, or Pres. McCain or McCain’s Sec. of State would have to smooth-over after his Administration takes office in order to deal with Iran, and even Israel.
The same can be said of Sen. Clinton. These people, while staunchly disagreeing with Iran, DO have to carry with them a certain degree of ‘approachable diplomacy’ … I am not certain ‘credibility’ could be preserved if an elected official, or one running for office, is seen demonstrating in a public setting such as this planned protest.
And while I am not certain the group’s head is being honest in his assertions of a media circus … I do think I have to give him a big, “Yeah! THAT’s the ticket!” for a great ‘excuse’ … that just happens to be correct.
Anyhow, those are just my thoughts and misgivings on the whole matter … (I think I may have ’surprised’ LBA in my comments on this one …

Sarah Palin has been disinvited from a rally next week to protest Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, an event that Hillary Clinton pulled out of just a day earlier so as not to be seen alongside the Republican vice presidential candidate.
Organizers said they aren’t being partisan. They decided to bar all elected and federal officials from the rally on Monday in fear of a “media feeding frenzy.” The rally was specifically intended to protest Ahmadinejad’s presence at the United Nations.
“In order to keep the focus on Iranian threats and to ensure that this critical message not be obscured, the organizers of the rally have decided not to have any American political personalities appear,” the National Coalition to Stop Iran Now said in a statement Thursday.
Both Clinton and Palin initially had accepted invitations to join the rally, planned by several American Jewish groups. But Clinton’s aides objected after they learned early this week that Palin would also be part of the rally. One aide said they were concerned the event would become “partisan” and “political.”
McCain, who earlier attempted to coax Barack Obama into joining the rally in lieu of Clinon, said in a statement Thursday that Palin’s invitation was “withdrawn under pressure from Democratic partisans.”
“We stand shoulder to shoulder with Republicans, Democrats and independents alike to oppose Ahmadinejad’s goal of a nuclear armed Iran. Senator Obama’s campaign had the opportunity to join us. Senator Obama chose politics rather than the national interest,” he said.
Malcolm Hoenlein, CEO of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, told FOX News the decision to disinvite Palin had nothing to do with Clinton, but rather the unwanted media attention.
“Regrettably the focus of the rally has been obfuscated by media feeding frenzy in recent days,” he said. “The decision was made for variety of reasons, and many ethnic and religious leaders and dignitaries from the U.S. and abroad will still be speaking.”
This is really an optimal outcome. Now Palin can mention that not only had she planned on supporting the event with her presence but she can catch the Dems with her back-swing by mentioning that they blocked her attendance.

I agree … It might have looked or even gotten “messy” had she shown up. THAT would have only been used as negative fodder for the already anti-Palin MSM.
September 18th, 2008 at 9:27 pmthat is just BS- they wanted Clinton to be there to get MORE media. once she dropped out for her own partisan reasons, the libs put pressure on the coordinating committee to make sure Palin was blackballed. it is all about the liberals not wanting Palin to be seen as pro-israel. I am so p!ssed..
September 19th, 2008 at 5:46 amI have been sitting here for a few minutes trying to figure out a response to this without letting my emotions take ahold and just saying fuck the left.
This situation has parallels as to why Obama wouldnt visit troops in Germany….he couldnt use it as a platform and couldnt get cameras in.
So where is the bipartisanship? Where is the “reaching across aisles” The hypocrisy of the left is astounding.
And who loses in this situation? The American people…but who gives a shit as long as we make sure a republican doesnt speak on behalf of a worthy cause.

I’m cool with this dis invitation as well. Elected officials involved in street protests seems like phoney baloney populism. Especially since the Hildebeast has had ample opportunity to use her position to actually accomplish something (say maybe write a bill that imposes sanctions on Ahmadinnerjacket’s country or drill domestic oil to cut the little dick’s profit margin).
Wasn’t it great to see the mighty Hillary run away from a hockey mom?
